How to Start Cash Stuffing

I was $200 away from paying all of my consumer debt off and I was waiting to pay it before it was due. I had a savings and then I got breast cancer and I am now more in consume debtr then what i owe on my house 🤦‍♀️ because cancer isn't cheap and now have no savings. I'm starting my journey over but I'm in remission and everytime I start to have a little victory another medical thing happens. I'm not giving up I will beat all these health issues and get out of financial debt. Debt and cancer can kiss my butt because i will prevail!💪❤

This past Saturday our air conditioner totally went out. The unit was 18 years old and we knew it would need to be replaced soon. However, It was on the holiday weekend and we had to wait until Tuesday to order the unit and it was Wednesday before we could get it installed. It was a hot 5 days but we survived. And thankfully since we had been saving we were able to pay for it. Cash stuffing has allowed us to save more money than we have ever been able to do in all the years we’ve been married. This is definitely a way of life, for the rest of our lives, for us. 🎉

I just had my first baby this past summer. Even though I have insurance, I didn’t know what my bill was going to be. Thankfully, between a savings challenge my husband and I have been contributing to and my HSA account, I was able to pay for it all without going into debt for it and not dipping into my emergency fund.

It’s Monday morning on my side of the world so I’m on my way to work. But my weekend was spent catching up with a friend and just planning the rest of my year. This week is week one of focussing on my finances and really being disciplined on not spending. There has already been a lot of praying for strength 🥰

Out first year with chickens, our husky got into the coop and played with the chickens. Result: 9 dead birds. We had one little survivor. This year we started again. Setbacks happen but I know you’ve got this!

It's kind of crazy, but my biggest unexpected expenses usually comes in the form of a family member needing to borrow money. I am always proud and happy that I have the money to lend to my family when they need it.

Yes... we actually lost everything to a house fire 3 years ago. It depleted everything. Thankfully we had INS. Plus all three kids were year round in sports. THEN, my DH car blew the engine. FEEL you. Keep working. You've got this. You are so strong!!!!

A couple of weeks ago we came home from a soccer tournament to find our refrigerator out. Ugh!! Luckily we had the savings and did not have to finance and we didn’t have to compromise that much on the style we wanted.

Because I am always on the move for dog sitting, I find myself not staying on track with my cash stuffing days. Catching up on all things Emily has got me motivated again. I’m about to be out of the country for a month, which is really gonna throw me off! So currently working on a digital plan in place of cash stuff for when I am not home.

We have been in your situation several times. One time we were finally building up a savings account and our vehicle went out. Wiped us out but at least we had it! Things will get better! This too shall pass! ❤

Totally understand! We have a double wide 2010 manufactured trailer. First the dishwasher went out in 2015, still haven’t replaced it because it’s not a priority. Next up was our fridge, thankfully it was fixed through home warranty thing we paid for. Shortly after that A/C issues. Replaced the outside unit first, then a couple of years later the inside part. Then the roof started having issues and our skirting started deteriorating. Thankfully the roof was mostly paid for through insurance, still working on the skirting. And of course our small front porch needs to be replaced as well as our ramp on the back porch. And our built in microwave needs replacing. While most of this is stretched out each year there’s usually some sort of car problem or dental issue 😂

My mama has a brain injury (her body was hit by a F250 five years ago while crossing the street) and I’m her caregiver, she lives with me. 9 weeks ago, she fell and broke her neck. 3 weeks ago, she fell again and broke her left shoulder, left arm, two finger, her nose, left leg, and left foot. She’s been in rehab but I have private insurance and there’s a 30 day inpatient rehab limit and mama is not safe to discharge home yet. So I’m going to have to private pay for her to stay in rehab because our disability and SSI program is so messed up in the USA there’s no way to get her on it in time. I’ve been working on it for almost a year and there’s no solution in sight. I’m just sinking but she’s my mama and she’s such a good mama, she’ll have whatever she needs no matter how many jobs I have to work.
