I knew this was an important book when I read it in high school. But now as a social studies teacher, I hope to use it as a collaboration with an English teacher to help the students to understand the impact of the industrial revolution using both literature and history.

If only we had had this when I had those hard times reading and studying for O-level. Ironically we also had Animal Farm that year, the 20th Century symbolism story.

This reading brings out the humour of "Hard Times", which is welcome after Dickens' darkness in "Bleak House."
