Equator Initiative: Amplifying the Voices of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities

Since 2002, the UNDP-led Equator Initiative has recognized and advanced the local sustainable development solutions championed by Indigenous peoples and local communities. Through programs like the Equator Prize, Equator Dialogues, and Equator Knowledge, we shed light on their unique nature-based solutions to our planetary crisis, creating awareness about their role in addressing critical issues of biodiversity loss, climate change, and inequality while providing dialogue and capacity building opportunities.
