Better Brothers LA and The DIVA Foundation present the 9th Annual Truth Awards, celebrating LGBTQ+ Excellence.

The 9th Annual Truth Awards presented by Better Brothers Los Angeles and Sheryl Lee Ralph’s DIVA Foundation, honors trailblazing LGBTQ+ African-Americans and allies whose personal and professional accomplishments have positively impacted the perception and image of the Black LGBTQ+ community. The Truth Awards embody the belief that members of the Black LGBTQ+ community and its allies who embrace and live their truth should be celebrated and honored.

The 2023 Truth Awards honors groundbreaking actress and LGBTQ+ advocate Raven-Symone´, with the Icon Award, Hampton University's Byron Perkins, the first openly gay HBCU football player, with the Courage Award, UCLA’s Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, Dr. Darnell Hunt, with the Excellence in Education Award, The Upshaws, created by Regina Hicks and Wanda Sykes on Netflix, with the Cultural Affirmation Award, social media personality Tabitha Brown, with the Ally Award, Daytime Emmy® Award-winning TV Judge, Judge Greg Mathis, Greg Mathis, Jr. and ‘Mathis Family Matters’ with the Family Award,
STARZ #TakeTheLead with the Corporate Leadership & Diversity Award, the Senior Director of Medical Affairs at Gilead Sciences Dr. David Malebranche and the Unique Woman’s Coalition with the Bayard Rustin Advocate Award.
