In the 80s, fitness tapes and television programs were all the rage, so it only made since that Nickelodeon would tap into that. But more than that, Kids in Motion is the tale of one dedicated woman bringing creative movement into the living rooms. And also Scott Baio is there.

I never expected there to be a collaboration between the Temptations, the writers of the best Pat Benatar song, Scott Baio, and an exercise instructor.

Me at the beginning: Wow, that theme song is unusually good and catchy.

Me by the middle: explains it!

Bravo! You've managed to make another super obscure Nick show interesting. I'm a huge fan of early cable, and it's cool how people just came up with stuff back then.

I don't know how long I could stand a reality in which Scott Baio can magically pop out of nowhere to yap at me.

We are right in the middle of my prime years for watching Nick, and you keep hitting me with shows I have no recollection of.

Great presentation on Kids in Motion. I seem to remember a little bit of it when I was a kid and how it came on before and after those old Curious George shorts, I just can’t remember exactly when. I particularly remember watching the segments of “The Body Rock” and “The Freeze.” As for Mousercise, yes, I remember watching that show on Disney Channel back in the early ‘90s when we first subscribed to that channel. Please don’t be surprised if they decide to add that Mousercise TV program to Disney Plus.
As for Greg & Steve, yes, I remember listening to their music back when I was in kindergarten. Me and my younger sister still like and remember some of those songs even as adults today. We intend to hum a few bars of their tunes. In fact, I managed to find the Kids in Motion album on CD as well as an assortment of Greg & Steve’s other albums at my local public library branches. I even once checked out a VHS copy of their concert they did in L.A. back in 1991. My all-time favorite Greg & Steve song would have to be “The World Is a Rainbow.” I didn’t realize they did a Kids in Motion videotape though until I watched this video. I’ll try to see if the libraries in my area may have a copy or if I can find the full video on YouTube.
Great job, Poparena! Looking forward to what your next video will be about.
PS: As for that Pat Benatar song, “We Belong, ” it’s my favorite song from that ‘80s artist. And yes, I like the Temptations as well.

Confession. I never heard of Kids In Motion until I discovered it on Nick Knacks. So even though it's been, well, 30+ years now, this one has passed me by without knowing it as it was a new one on me. I never knew what I was missing until I came here. Thanks!

Way too young and European to have heard of the Elephant Show, as l'm told it's called. But that tune? That's an old Danish Christmas song! It's practically the same as Søren Banjomus, a children's staple over here about being excited for Christmas.

That intro may be the most 80s thing I've ever seen.

I haven’t watched many of Kennedy’s speeches…I thought Chris Miller’s JFK voice on Clone High was a bigger exaggeration than it actually is…

Whoa. I completely forgot about this. But the "move like a lion" bit along with the theme song hit a big time memory trigger. I think I had the lion bit on a tape as a kid with, I don't know, Curious George shorts, maybe a Bananaman and probably the "Rule of the Moghoks" episode of Spartakus.

Julie Weismann is lovely. She should've been the full host. Go away Scott Baio.

Huh.

Greg and Steven are the names of a CN Father-Son duo.

Your name's Greg Stevens.

And now we learn there's a singing duo for preschoolers named Greg & Steve (the latter being often short for Steven).

Coincidence?... Yeah, most likely.

I'm excited for the Sharon Lois & Bram episode! Alongside your episodes on Today's Special & You Can't Do This on Television, this is one of the first times this always fascinating video series will touch on a show that was elemental in my own childhood. I can't wait for you to reach Fred Penner's Place, David the Gnome &, eventually, my personal estimate of the pinnacle of Nick programming, Pete & Pete! Thanks for the wonderful videos! Thank you also for your attention to sensitivities & inclusivity! Keep it up!

9:46-9:52 "In 1986, Scott Baio was the guy from Charles in Charge or if you prefer the classics, Bugsy Malone."

Hey, don't forget, Greg, he was also Chachi on Happy Days.
