Many cables had already failed and a month before this the scientific research had been suspended. They were removing some equipment when the collapse happened. Its a sad end for such a great resource.

My wife had planned her dream vacation in P.R., we were gonna go to the sea and watch bioluminescent plankton, and then go to the observatory. then the hurricane wiped out all the power, and our flights were cancelled, and we had to cancel our hotel res. my wife is devastated, because now we'll never get to see it. and now covid, so nobody's going anywhere with any common sense if we don't need to. this hurt my feelings to watch, i don't even want to tell my girl about the shit she'll cry watching this video.
