EVROVIZION.CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES
Periferne utopije: Boris Buden, Nerzuk Ćurak & Hana Stojić u razgovoru
Predavanje Periferne utopije održano je u Sarajevu 1. avgusta 2021. u Historijskom muzeju Bosne i Hercegovine u okviru putujuće izložbe EVROVIZION.CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES njemačkog instituta ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen).
Razumijevajući jedinstveni položaj Bosne i Hercegovine u europskim geopolitičkim i kulturnim kontekstima, prof. Boris Buden i prof.

The lecture Peripheral Utopias has been shown in Sarajevo on August 1st 2021 in History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina within the touring exhibition EVROVIZON.CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES by ifa (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen). This event was curated by Hana Ćurak.
Understanding Bosnia and Herzegovina's unique position within Europe's geopolitical and cultural contexts, Prof. Boris Buden and Prof. Nerzuk Ćurak share many views. These two renowned intellectuals will talk with literary expert Hana Stojić, programme director of the European network for literature, TRADUKI, discussing the significance of the idea of utopia for Bosnia and Herzegovina and also its relevance for a geopolitical vision of Europe.
Is Bosnia and Herzegovina the periphery of Europe? Has it always been that way? Can there be a utopia on the periphery? Does utopia require courage? Has Europe missed the chance to experience its rebirth in Bosnia and Herzegovina? Is it possible to recreate that chance? Are we neglecting the importance of emotions and modes of behaviour when discussing borders? – These simple questions lead into a discourse that makes Bosnia and Herzegovina an active subject, and opens up space for an empowered utopian imagination that is crucial within the geopolitical category of Europe.
The co-creative exhibition project explores the current social and political climate in Europe and the idea of a European identity. The focus is on less visible and marginalised geopolitical and cultural spaces, in particular in southeast and eastern Europe. These are so-called semi-peripheries and places of diversity that often play only a minor role in many international theoretical discourses and exhibition practices, such as the multi-ethnic city of Sarajevo – the first venue of the project.
