Graphing solutions to 2 variable linear equations

Algebra I on Khan Academy: Algebra is the language through which we describe patterns. Think of it as a shorthand, of sorts. As opposed to having to do something over and over again, algebra gives you a simple way to express that repetitive process. It's also seen as a "gatekeeper" subject. At 6:19 you were dividing both sides by 5 but you only put one part of the term over 5. I don't understand. I thought you had to put 5 under everything.
