I was warned by the sales person not to buy this MSI Codex R pre-built gaming PC. They said most of them get return, so I decided the best thing to do was buy it and see what's up.

Good news everyone!
I put the Adata drive back into the system and reinstalled Windows on it.
I've been gaming on it all day and ran a two hour Aida 64 run without a single bluescreen of death.
The problem is clearly a broken Windows install image that MSI used for this system.
If you have one of these PC's and have crashing issues, just reinstall Windows and you'll be golden.

Dawids worst nightmare: prebuilts with a single ram stick

Ah yes, that cooler RGB it's gonna boost those rookie FPS to compensate that single stick of 8GB of RAM.

What an oversight by MSI! Something as simple as a faulty Windows installation caused so many bad reviews of an actually decent system (except for the single channel ram).

The salesman warns about the condition of the PC.
Dawid: Does it work? No? I'll buy it.
Salesman:😕😕

At this point I think that making bad prebuilds is like a weird inside joke between companies

God, I can't believe we're living in a time where a 1660 Super build is like $1, 000.

I went through two of these in the course of 48 hours before finding reports on the msi forums about the same issue. To their credit, my store not only handled returns flawlessly, they also wound up auditing and removing the model from their entire inventory system. I had a diversity of bluescreens as I attempted different fixes, including a lot of critical process errors. Some users reported a fix by reformatting the ssd. All of this was very frustrating for a bloke like me who bought this specifically so I wouldn't have to do the internals work and could have a decent experience.

When the sales team is warning against a product but the company is still selling it, it demonstrates a systemic problem in the company.

Well, I have to admit - at least the sales person had integrity... That's extremely rare.

Man ur channel is just exploding with subs lately, nice to see. EDIT if this gets 600 likes Dawid has to play Tarkov with me.

"It looks a bit like it was designed to look like something designed by Lambourghini" is the best way to describe that low-rent racer aesthetic.

I would say half of the RAM slots should always be filled just to leave room for upgrading, though a prebuilt should also have whatever is needed to be good out of the box

When dawid says lets see if fires up, it might mean literally or technically

The salesman will no longer warn people about the issues because he will think we are all :(

Hey dawid you should try formatting the SSD and install a clean windows copy on it. I think msi might have messed up their tweaked windows copy

Dawid, aside from the blue screen issue, I was kinda surprised you seemed so surprised at how well put together the machine was (we won't mention the RAM). On the whole, MSI do pretty good stuff. I was impressed that their sales staff came right out and said "Don't buy it." They obviously knew they had an issue and the sales staff were being up front about it rather than trying to sweep it under the rug like corporates mostly try to do these days.

Hey there.. I purchased an Aegis system from MSI: i7-10700KF, 16 GB (dual channel), 512 GB SSD (same ADATA Drive) + 1TB WD Black SATA, with RTX2060 Super. For the low, low, price of $1300. As you mentioned in your video.. the current cost of just the graphics card is near the price of the machine. Just a note, the exact model number is Aegis R 10SC-017US.

From the get-go, the system was completely unstable. Solution - replace the SSD. When I called MSI, their chat support was terrible and actually had me trying to upgrade the bios with the wrong image, they told me they were having issues with the SSD. I swapped to a 1TB WD Black NVME and nearly all my problems were gone. I say nearly because the network was running about 10% of its expected capacity. After another full windows reset and all is finally well. I want to mention that I've upgraded the ram with some Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, 2 16GB sticks.

Since the last windows reset and the upgrades. the system has been flawless. I purchased this in an attempt to nudge my way back into the PC world and see if I can actually create content on a PC vs having to just use my Mac. I plan on documenting my "struggle" to make the conversion.. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the video.. I figured I'd toss in my .02 to let you know that you found the hart of the problem. Tha ADATA drive and MSI gear do not get along. And it's not just that motherboard.

Cheers
