Our team traveled to Mumbai, India, to get the inside scoop on Dharavi, widely considered the largest slum in Asia. We met with the real people of Dharavi, the slum that inspired the movie, Slumdog Millionaire.

The opinions expressed in this video are those of individual interviewees alone and do not reflect the views of ASIAN BOSS or the general Indian population.

Our standard filming equipment:

We believe that any ordinary person can deliver real news and commentary. Through our original and in-depth interviews of real people, we will challenge you - the global youth - to think critically and challenge various cultural and social issues.

I was born i Dharavi. My parents didn't have any ancestral money so they had to start from scratch. My dad lived in Dharavi for 25 years of his life, but Today I am 22 and things have changed a lot. We now own 2 flats (both 2bhk) and I am studying MBBS in Georgia. Its amazing how Sometimes, hardwork and a bit of good luck makes such a huge unfathomable difference and I am so grateful of my parents for that! 💓

Foreigners look down on Indian people and treat them differently while Indians look upto foreigners and respect and love them.... That's the difference

Wow, when that lady offered tea and pulled out some cookies while being so poor. What a generous woman.

The lady who made tea and got biscuits for them even though she hardly has enough to live on. Wow. That’s so amazing, I teared up.

How amazing that the woman, the one who works as a maid cleaning dishes and mopping floors to support her family because her husband no longer stays with her regularly, still includes her mother-in-law in her household! These people have the largest hearts!

The male translator did a brilliant job in toning down the questions to a more polite version.

This really made me think about the way society is going. The people protested about the apartments as they were happy in the slums, and I totally understand them as I experienced that style of communal living before. Now I’m living in a developed nation, everything feels sterile and isolated, all these buildings feel like literal cages. Everyone’s physical health is perfect, but it seems inner health has been forgotten by the modern society. The people in the video although poor, all feel a sense of connection and bonding, in the end who is really richer?

Being around these friendly Indian people in the slums filled with kindness, community and hugs is much better than hanging out with rich people talking about superficial boring crap.

Wish I could hug those lovely people in the Indian slums. Such sweethearts.

The interviewer’s questions make her look like a teenager interested in pursuing a career in journalism, not someone who actually does it as her job. The interpretor on the otherhand was amazing

I liked how the translator asked the English speaking host’s questions more gently.

ASIAN BOSS gives a unique example of reporting or documentry which can't expected by Western media. They only show poverty but ASIAN BOSS shows a clear picture that humbleness and happiness is also matter.🙏🙏

i was also born and brought up in mumbai slums and that was my core memory tbh, but we never catch diseases, when i was 10 my father bought a flat in Mumbai(Mira bhayender) and my today's quality of life had been significantly increased from slum(ganesh nagar malad) although that slum area is now being destroyed and building are on making and our house also got destroyed in that process but we got 2bhk flat in return, i m really proud of my dad, from living in slum to owning 4 properties in Mumbai is no joke.

Rich people interview : just speaking on the street with distance.
Poor people interview : inviting in their tiny house, hugging, offering tea and snacks.

The interviewer needs to be more subtle with her questions. That guy translator did a great job delivering the questions. He is probably the reason the interview went along well.
