The problem is that Hoyo doesn't want players to prepare or plan their jade resources. They dont want you to know when a unit will come back so you have Fomo and spend your jades on the current banner instead of saving them for a future banner. They want to keep draining your jades because the less you have the more likely are to buy.

I'm really glad you mentioned that they have access to data like pulls that are saved. ppl kinda downplay that these companies have TONS of data that shapes their decisions. I think that this is also a way to throw off people who base their pulls on... dreams and visions lol.

I've realized that you should AT LEAST go for the character you want on launch banner b/c the reruns are always so brutal. if you're ok with maybe missing the character you want. that way if you win the 50/50 you win lol. but if you lose, you'll at least have a guarantee to consider for the next character you get.

As a newer player, I mostly love the idea of more frequent reruns. Would have preferredit to be a bit more spread out though, maybe like Feixiao, Robin/Kafka, then Lingsha, Topaz/BS. Would love a DOT team but I desperately want the good follow up team, and I need at least Robin and Feixiao for that.

I feel like if they just do triple banners every patch, that doesn't saturate the 5 stars too much while also allowing more people more opportunities to get characters faster and be able to save while newer players with more jade income can get the game started even faster, and that allows hoyo to make more money (for their benefits) and it doesn't feel scummy to the point where is just caters to the flavor of the month and selling you teams instead of characters. Imagine a quad banner with Firefly/Lingsha/Ruan Mei/(Limited HMC or smt like that) then you pretty much get the Break starter kit for the low price price of your wallet. That's why consistent triple banners would be a better alternative imo.

Synergetic characters are probably gonna rerun together within the banner, and that is tempting & stressful to most players who enjoy specific core teams. My personal plan is to pick up the key support from said roster, for example Robin in 2.5, and will comeback to the other teammates later on if they're still desirable.

The quad banner isn't the issue. The issue is WHO is on those quad banners.

If the Quad banner had Seele, Jing Yuan, & Silver Wolf to run alongside Feixiao, people wouldn't even blink.

People are upset because they deliberately chose characters they know are well sought after to run alongside Feixiao in an attempt to goad F2Ps into becoming low spenders and get low spenders to spend a bit more.

Even if you make an argument for Robin to come back early because she's Fei's BiS, WHY is BOTH Kafka and Black Swan back already? Hoyo obviously knows what they're doing and so does everyone else.

I think there is a third aspect to consider with quad banners: scarcity also drives sales. If they do this style of banner with every patch then FOMO would actually reduce, as you can then reliably expect your desired characters to re-run more often than they would otherwise.
But if they only do quad re-runs every so often, then FOMO effectively doubles. The number of posts right now asking for advice on who to pull are irrelevant, because there are whales out there who have already made the decision to pull ALL the characters, and those players are the ones HoYo are most interested in catering for.

the threat of FOMO is really real with this banner system, before this news i was never really feeling the FOMO in HSR, but with this robin-kafka-black swan banner now im really having to think of who to pull between the 4 characters in first half.

I think Hoyo is doing this to get people to spend jades heavily, depleting savings prior to some Ruan Mei like character coming soon.

If it was minimum, every other patch it'd be fine, or if we, the players, knew that it'd always fall on the same patch (3.5/4.5/5.5, etc), then i think it'd be less of an issue. Them doing it now and the characters they chose is the real problem. Kafka and Topaz getting their 3rd rerun alongside their BiS teammates and Robin beating Silver Wolf and Seele for a rerun feels problematic. If it was Seele, Silver Wolf, Black Swan, and Dr. Ratio, it'd feel a bit fairer. Unit choice is just as important as how often these triple banners return.

Tldr: make sure we request them frequently in the survey so they're not able to use them as fomo bait

Am I missing something? Because the devs never stated that this would be a continuous thing. Like, it’s still basically random. It’s no different from how they used to do it. Now it’s probably worse because it’s more likely they’ll rerun an entire team archetype which forces you to wait again for the next if you’re unable to get all the pieces, especially if you’re new. (Basically a cash grab)

I don’t think we should look too deep into this first rerun banner setup since I think Hoyo is just experimenting to gather data. The second time they do this 4-rerun system will tell us much more.

It's quite obvious that Hoyoverse is outright pairing characters with insane synergy together for their newer banners. I managed to get my teams sorted because I started in 1.0 and thus had time to build up my teams and pulls. Even then, I still ended up spending money because I have a 50/50 win rate of 38.46% and would lose in banners that I wanted badly.

Firefly with Ruan Mei's rerun in 2.3, now we have Kafka + her best sub-DPS Black Swan, Feixiao with Robin, who's the best support for FUA, and then a Topaz rerun in the 2nd half. I can already foresee that Aventurine will rerun in 2.6 after everyone has blown all their jades for Feixiao, Robin, and Topaz, and if rumors are to be true, Sunday might be the DoT Harmony unit for Kafka and Black Swan that people have been waiting for and will likely release soon since Kafka and Black Swan's rerun is in 2.5.
