I'm extremely worried about ALL the homeless people and stray animals, not to mention the rest of the wildlife! From fish to birds, EVERY animal will be greatly affected by such extreme low temperatures. This is INSANELY cold, like freeze your eyeballs in your head COLD, frozen mucous membranes with icicles of snot! EVERYONE should wear goggles or other protective eyewear, ski masks or whole face coverings, and certainly lots of layers and gloves! It would be totally awesome if you could help homeless people get to the shelters, maybe volunteer your time to help in whatever way necessary, and put boxes with blankets or straw out near your abode for stray cats and dogs and whatever else may need the shelter! Please, NOBODY leave your pets outside, even if they're "outdoor" animals!!!! They'll most certainly get debilitating frost bite, severe dehydration, blindness, and quite possibly death!!! If you can, bring any strays into your dwelling until these Siberia like temperatures cease! Also, make sure to leave your water on at a steady stream to keep it flowing in the pipes preventing freezing. Frozen pipes explode leaving you extremely expensive repairs. So, just leave the bathtub faucet on a small stream, your kitchen sink, and especially anywhere that's next to an exterior wall. Cover with towels your outdoor water sources, especially those that lead into your home! Anyway, be safe as possible in this coming Polar Vortex!!

My husband is from North Dakota (aka South Canada), his family still lives out there and they always have stories about how cold it is; I think this will beat all the others though! I'm from New England in Rhode Island and we're used to all kinds of crazy weather. However, the cold temperatures we've had and will be having are just ridiculous!

As a side note though, please don't leave your pets outside... Your cats aren't going to find somewhere warm to curl up on their own. Your pups don't need to stay out longer than it takes to do their business. Don't leave them out in these temperatures to freeze or get sick and injured! And of course, everyone stay warm yourselves. 🐶

Not for All of us! Seems like whenever these cold snaps hit the rest of N. America, us here in CA (central California on down, at least) oddly tend to warm up. For those living on CA Central Coast region are expecting 80°F and up next week. It's nice but sorta like an uncomfortable nice, considering the reason why we'll all be sunbathing.

Looks like I'll be in the dark blue. Fun. I love snow and all, but I have chickens. Two of them already have problems with frostbite as their combs (thing on their head, its usually redish) are large.

Let's just hope my school gets canceled, I don't want to have to walk a mile and a half to get home lol.

I'll also be sure not to complain about the snow melting again. Last one wasn't too fun, we barely got any snow.
