This is one of the most heroic things I've ever heard. Sure, plenty of people have faced more danger, or saved more lives with their work, but the fact that he willingly faced such a tiring and menial task for so long out of dedication to his wife's memory despite knowing that he could never bring her back shows evidence of the most powerful love probably ever seen on this planet. He did right by her, I'm sure she watched on with so much pride in her husband and waited diligently for him in heaven.

Hey, fun fact:- his story is very famous in India and the story is included in the indian education and is taught every kid. Even though the people of the village laughed at him first, they saw his mindset and were moved. They left him food and water everyday so he could continue. A few kids came to help him everyday and when asked why, they said joke "uncle gave us free food and told funny jokes".
