My mother has had two of these "Zick-Zack-Hacker" in her life so far. She got her first Zyliss for her wedding in 1962 and I think it was 1998 when a new Zyliss moved into the kitchen. Apparently it really depends on which brand you buy. Oh yes, the garlic press is still from 1962 and the orange salad spinner from around 1980 is still used every day.

Never chop anything with the base cover or blade protector on!! If it is chopped on, it will cut it to pieces and get into whatever food is being chopped.

Works great when brand new but clear plastic breaks and is brittle. And unfortunately a small fortune to replace making the product useless and unsafe. If you like stuff that only lasts for about 2 years this is a way to go.

I bought a chopper now how could I make it from not moving with one arm?

I like the basic idea, it looks so easy to clean that I am now regretting purchasing something else. BUT what name would I use in say Amazon to find this chopper? It doesn't make sense to search for Pampered Chef does it. I know Food Chopper, but how many pages of food choppers are on Amazon? MANY, MANY pages.

My mom had a brown one back in the early 80's. It actually works well for onions and garlic, and that's it. The problem is, it's really tiny. Look at that tiny piece of carrot she put in there. I'd rather spend a little more for an electric with a glass bowl.
