Wow. I learned a couple new skills today. I got a Brother serger for Christmas about a month early and this is my first project with it. I’ve been doing tutorials for the serger, just not projects. So far I have stitched my first real seam (back) my edges on the band and collar bands, and tinkered with the differential feed to get the serged edge flat (thank you Stitch Sisters). I’ve had my Bernina Record for 46 years and never used the double needles, so that was #2. So far it is looking good.

Laying out pieces on a piece of Scuba, the grain direction (selvedge) has the least stretch, so should I place pieces against the grain to go with greatest stretch of fabric.

Why is the bottom yoke element that attaches to the notch 3/8" wide on the paper pattern, but in your video it is about 3x wider? If this element is supposed to have a 3/8" seam allowance included in the pattern, how is that possible?
