I'VE GOT THE CHINA KNOCK OFF FOR ABOUT $300...STILL RUNNING STRONG AT 15PSI. ILLBE DAMMED IF I PAY $2, 300 FOR THE REAL ONE. NO SMOKE, NO WEIRD NOISES...I'M GOOD.

With 1/5 of the genuine garrett price, shouldn't blame much about the quality, with proper oil feed/drain, some china knock-off turbo actually reliable and make good power. China turbo clone quality has improved...

Have you ever looked at a maxpeedingrods turbo? Iv got a maxpeedingrods gt2871r on my car. I ported out the waste gate port as it was too small but other than that it's pretty decent however you know more than myself so I'd definitely be interested to know as I know the company sell many different products and seam to be coming more and more common.

I have a China GTX35 that replaced my genuine for price reasons. My Chinese one looks pretty much the same. I've taken it apart side by side with my genuine core. They were the same except the billet compressor wheel was taller for the Chinese one with a slightly longer shaft to accommodate it. Chinese billet wheel was 2 grams less than the Garrett one (gen 1). Bearing, cage, and center housing were pretty much the same except the Chinese one of was of the ceramic BB variety.

You mentioned that you can machine in an o ring groove but some people say their turbo leaks boost from the compressor side. Not like a small leak but a proper boost leak... How does that happen?

Have you ever come across a blown Corksport (1st revision) upgraded turbo? They use an MHI TD05H-18G CHRA and turbine wheel, but with a larger Borg Warner style ETT compressor wheel. I'm trying to track down a good quality CHRA rebuild kit.

I’ve used the .63 a/r turbine China t3/t4 on my builds and I seriously doubt they are .63. They look more like .48 to me..

I just bought a ball bearing garret t04e 50trim. 48 from a shop..but it doesnt even dry spin that long. Like not even 2 rotation. No rubbing though

I'm running a maxpeeding gt30 it's the yellow blade version vband fitment it's like there high end version I guess but it's running 30psi making 500+hp loads of compressor surge it gets driven hard lots of track days and drag racing I've also put 35k miles on it and it's still boosting hard it cost me £385 so up from the £115 generic version. So if it blew up tomorrow I'll buy another one because 4 years and 30k of abuse is well worth it in my eyes. And who the fuck wants to spend ££££+ on a turbo.

I wouldn't bother on maxpeeding turbos...got a 2871 piss oil right away with restrictor, got one in """warranty""" paying 50% off and it locked up in less than 5 minutes, you might be lucky but I bought a real 2871 now...
