I gave up on my early conlang aspirations when I learned about Toki Pona.
Such undertaking is not for everyone. If I need a fictional language to tell a story, first I'll outline the story, flesh out the details and construct the language as required by the setting.

2:00 That's actually an extremely SMALL language. Hebrew has 30, 000 words, and it is known as having a small lexicon.

I noted that ZESE's not got kin terms. I know you probably won't add terms such as "uncle" 'cause you can easily use "mother's brother" o "father's brother" instead, but at least terms for "parent" and "child" are necessary. And I didn't find them in the vocabulary you published. You just need two kinterms. Note that you have not to distinguish "father" from "mother" as English does. The Piraha language from Amazonia uses the single word "maixi" for both the mother and the father. At the same time you haven't to make difference between "son" and "daughter" - think that the most ancient language ever written, Sumerian, does not. The Igbo language (Nigeria) doesn't have words for sibling, but instead uses the periphrasis "the mother's (or the father's) children". Australian Aboriginal English uses the word "child" also for nibling (nephews and nieces). Terms such as granfather can be litteraly translated adding the adjective "great" to the word for male parent. So substantially you just need two kinterms for parent and child. I hope you add them.

how does this compare to toki pona? toki pona is easy to learn too as far as vocabulary, & grammar but because of it's small vocabulary (118-125 words) is hard to say much of anything without ambiguity which makes it pretty useless. It doesn't even have a complete number system & if you try to create one you're considered a 'jan nasa li wile ante e toki pona' or 'crazy person who wants to change toki pona'. If I'm crazy because I want to make a conlang usable, then I'll be a proud 'jan nasa'.

sorry but i am an amateur conlanger and i was thinking about this: why not using sillables like in chinese? without tones obviouly. maybe a polysintetic, english-inspired language!

PS awesome video:)

I've studied few natural languages and those with smaller vocabularies are the always the boring ones that are unpleasant to use, they're bland. I see how minimalism is your main goal but in the century when you can always google the word you forgot on the spot I see no point in minimalistic languages.

The summary is to show how futile it is to make a conlang after Daman Diwan has seen the light.
All those who want to make a simple language, make parts of speech. And the parts of speech are essentially the same as those of Daman Diwan.
Now the phonology of that ZESE is extremely unpractical, because it is too easy to confuse B and P and all pairs distinguished by only voiceness or openness of vowel. Many languages around the globe have trouble distinguishing these. And even if they distinguish, it is too easy to hear Z for S, I for E and so on.
Their words are 275 of Zese, more than the 258 stems of Daman.
Then even if you call me the creator of Daman Diwan, i shall always deny the authorship of it, so there is a legal obstacle to call me the creator of it, while that man who made Zese, Jack Eisenmann, sounds quite proud of it.
Also, from July 25 to August 13 he made 12 changes to the language. It cannot be kept stable, never. Because it is based on a person's ideas, and as such cannot remain stable.
There are no news on the page after 2017. Obviously, Zese was deflated like a flat tyre.
As to the writing system, it does not impress me because i made such a system of writing and even better when i was about 9 years old.
The bottom line is that all people who try to make a minimal and practical language, they make something that tries to reach Daman Diwan, but it falls behind. The best they can do is to join forces for promoting Daman Diwan. They can all be called creators of Daman Diwan if only they embrace the language. I reach out with this message to them.
