As someone who owns one of these, I will say the sport+ handling is fantastic. I've taken it to the tail of the dragon and it was a lot of fun for the size of this vehicle. While also having the seats massaging and an amazing sound system. This SUV is wonderful

I have 3 toddlers and the space is perfect for that application using 3 rows.
The smaller footprint in length is an added benefit when parking and getting around town.
I also appreciate being able to remove the middle seat in the 2nd row changing them to captain chairs.
Lastly, The ergonomics with mostly physical bottoms is excellent and hard to find in today’s screen biased car designs. It’s safer and quicker especially driving windy roads like in your review.
I traded in my X7 for the Type S Adv and I am much happier and satisfied.

Bought a Type S Adv after cross shopping it mostly with the Q7 and X7. Compared to those, the value for money is obvious - the MDX and Q7 are about the same when it comes to utility and space, but you need to step up to the Prestige 55 with the lux pack to match the equipment list on the Type-S, which puts it well into the mid-80's. As for the X7, it feels a little roomier inside for sure, but equipped the same, now we're in the mid-90's. And that's before we talk about maintenance costs, reliability etc. It's not perfect; the transmission tuning needs work and she likes premium unleaded, but overall I'm pretty happy. And I took it up Harts Pass in the North Cascades without much drama, so it can do the occasional forest road when needed.

No off-road test? It’s got a lift air suspension. Obviously not what is intended but my favorite part of this channel is testing things off road even if it’s not the intended use case.

We have the 2022 Stype. Not the advanced. Love it. The red leather stays clean, even with 3 dogs. We adjusted to the no touch screen quickly. Handles great in snow. So much fun to drive on curvy roads. Only complaint is that Acura wants all the different fluids "flushed" way too often. Our previous Infiniti didn't have that nonsense.

if you've had a sports car, you will recognize that it's no sports car - But it may be the best vehicle that I have ever owned. Only three weeks in but I love this thing. it is really versatile and athletic enough if you need that. Surprisingly I seldom take it out of comfort mode, it is super smooth and responsive enough to move in and out of traffic.

I love how much this car offers so much for the money when compared to its German competitors like the BMW X5 and Audi Q7. To even get amenities like a V6 and massage seats you would have to pay well over $85k. Acura’s SH-AWD is crazy good, on par with Audi’s Quattro drive engine. Downside would be the fuel economy and no touchscreen infotainment system.

A video of the Honda Pilot Trailsport in icy snow please!

The wife have 22 Mdx S advance and your review is spot on minus the utility imo. It have plenty of utility for us which we have 3 kids. The 3rd row gets plenty of use without complaints and it able to carry everything we thrown at it so far. I love the way it sounds, handles and drives, its really fun! Its almost perfectly setup imo, i do agree the comfort mode is still a tad harsh . But its a really good value compared to its competitors. My vehicle is a 23 SQ7 which is a beast, but i still enjoy driving my wife's mdx s.

Your description of the cockpit feel is EXACTLY how I feel.

No gauge clusters? Speed limits? Time to invest in an abandoned airfield!

And then maybe hire a very talented driver to wear a white racing suit, never show their identity, and race around the test track 😏

2:50 Utility
5:00 Very cockpity
6:20 No touchscreen for a $70k+ luxury vehicle? 😂
9:00 No trail mode for frequent off-roading
11:20 SHAWD
13:55 Drive modes
17:45 Total performance package
20:25 Comfy seats
21:00 *NOT as practical as other 3 rows, super fun to drive*

*There should be a luxury MDX-S package, with beige/brown interior with wood trim, softer comfort mode, to compete with Lexus. Otherwise, the new GX550 is a better buy, especially being on RWD platform and sitting higher.*

I saw this car in this color yesterday. It is sooo beautiful. But I would say that I am very happy with my 2022 Grand Cherokee trailhawk fully loaded like the one you tested including the night vision camera that is amazing! The only thing I would like to have it is the massage seat. The jeep is more fun as it is fully offroad capable.

Sounds like it drives well! I'm so tired of boring riding cars! I like road feedback. Everything doesn't need to drive like a Buick.

Such a shame that Acura is ditching ELS. It's one of the few setups that bring true premium audio to the middle class. (Teslas are great too)
Elliot Scheiner is a genius and hopefully another manufacturer will put him back to work on their vehicles.

I am surprised you didn't comment much on the ELS system, you mentioned it but didn't comment on the quality for a stock stereo system.
