Re: Takamine explorer: "Takamine model GX-100. This is a neck thru guitar. Very rare explorer shaped guitar of which Takamine only made for a short time between 1981-1984. This model was created in conjunction with Jackson Guitars and in their Jackson Japanese factory". Looks like you can still find those out there for not too much! Cool first guitar!

Chris I hope to see you out on tour with that LP. Love this gig on PG. Please keep doing it. You are so relatable. Feel like we are friends just bs'ing over guitars.

That LP is such a great keepsake electric! Wow! Also, you looked like a rockstar with that Takamine.
I don’t own my first guitar but, I still own my first decent guitar. 1976 Fender Musicmaster. Black with warped pickguard. All original. I was born in 70. Didn’t own it new.

I still remember my first good electric guitar, which was a red HSS Squire Strat that I played my first gigs at back when I was 13 but eventually butchered because I wanted to try and convert the standard bridge into a floating trem because I wanted to emulate guys like Joe Satriani and Steve Vai. I had no idea that it would've screwed with the guitar but it did and to this day is basically unplayable but it was still a great guitar and helped me get a feel for my current number one which is a '97 Fender Strat Pro Deluxe (that I also recently modified by swapping the pickguard for a black one to look more like David Gilmour's Black Strat)

The Takamine GX-100 Explorer was my first guitar too.... I traded it in for an even exchange after a few months on a GX-200, which I still have to this day.,

I remember seeing this LP in some old footage, I think at Bonnaroo. He was using a white explorer for the drop d stuff then used this for anything tuned lower, like Weenie Beenie and Stacked Actors.

Cool! That Tak was nifty. I know everyone wants to know mine…it was a Granada bolt-on LP copy.

Ha! My first guitar was the same Takamine; I think the model was GX100? Mine was black around the sides, but the top was a dark teal.

By chance I also ended up with an Ibanez RG550 and an El Cheap-o acoustic in the same color scheme.

nice, I had a ' 72 Gibson Black Beauty Custom that I still regret selling as a kid. I used the proceeds to buy a new '81 Gibson Explorer.

That is such a sweet Les Paul. It is a wonder why built in string winders never caught on.
