The times, when DJI drones could be upgraded. It had it's own benefits, but innovation is innovation. :)

If you read the DJI documents you would notice that this is an alternative upgrade path instead of the stand-alone GCU and PMUv2 upgrades. This one integrated both units on a new main board. My gimbal still works after tenths of flights.

My Zenmuse H3-2D isn't faulty. Don't generalize if you can't proof. Directly contact DJI and they will help you. They quickly helped me out when I contacted them for some replacement parts I needed. Very nice people working hard for a pleasant customer experience. This applies to both the US as well as European centers. Both answered my polite emails very quickly.

Just did the upgrade and I have to that it's just amazing! The Phantom is lighter and no more having to stuff all these wires and boxes in my quad anymore. A much cleaner look!

Check DJI's documentation on their web site for their Naza-M V2; their release document states what you can exactly expect. For a hexacoper I know for sure, but for a quadcopter I'm not sure. After all, if this is possible, we would probably see it with one of the next firmware updates. At least, they also included S.BUS2 support with the Naza Lite after they did so for the Naza-M v2.

Right, the connection kit comes with the PMUv2 integrated; it also has the GCU integrated. You don't need a separate PMUv2, that's the reason for the new main board to exist after all. Makes for a clean install in your Phantom, without GCU and PMU boxes rattling inside your Phantom.

If you want to use the Zenmuse 3H-2D gimbal for shooting jellow-free and super stable video you will need either this connection kit to make the Zenmuse work with your Phantom, or you need a separate PMU V2 power management unit. This video explains how the upgrade/installation of the new main board with GCU/PMUv2 and Zenmuse H3-2D works.

Excellent upgrade DJI! We can now save weight and space with the PMU and GCU integrated into the main board. I can't wait to get one. I'm assuming the software upgrades will now be all through the original Usb connection.

Yes, all firmware upgrades through the main USB connection and only using the Naza-M Assistant. No need for the Zenmuse Assitant.

It's for their new Zenmuse gimbal. This new board reduces the weight of the Phantom by integrating some components onto the board.

Nice. Dont know why some are we can eliminate the separate PMU and GCU. Having an all in one solution is great and I assume we get to save some weight. Definitely going to get this even though I don't need the lever for tilt :)

adds a control on the back of your transmitter, so if you install a gimbal \ camera mount you can control it from your phantom transmitter.

What an unsupported claim. Did you do an upgrade yourself so you have first hand experience? I for my part did so. The result is pretty amazing: jellow-free and super stable video shooting. Upgrade went through smooth, albeit takes a little bit of patience. The quality of both the main board as well as the gimbal is pretty amazing, well done. I want to see other manufacturers to do the same level at a much lower price. Until I see them to do so you don't have proof.

For those with a Tarot Gimbal they have issues with tilt settings in the Naza software: It comes from the calibration of the X1 slider on the back: you first need to calibrate it, then you can do settings in the Gimbal window of the Naza :)

You can attach the Zenmuse Gimbal and also any additional accessories.

Thanks for the warning. I then installed the black 8 wire cable that comes with the Zenmuse H3-2D kit and it were exactly the length I needed. Simply ignored the gray 8 wire cable that comes with the connection kit.

@OfficialCytation: the video shows a second-generation Phantom that comes with two CCW motors that have left-hand threads for fastening their propellers. To clearly mark them, CCW motors come with black nuts. Ignore this if you have a first generation Phantom ... unless you upgrade the two motors from CW to CCW as I did. ;)

Thanks! This video proofs that I've correctly upgraded my first-generation Phantom with CCW motors. ;)

Other than that, again a useful video for showing the steps necessary to install the new central board. Thanks!
