Don't forget about Uzbek chess! Uzbekistan has some crazy good chess players including Nodirbek Abdusattorov, and Nodirbek Yakubboev, who took 1st and 2nd at the recent Qatar masters 2023.

Uzbekistan also took gold at the 2022 Chess Olympiad. In short, they have tonnes of great young players, and will almost certainly be one of the chess powerhouse countries in the future.

I was in Uzbekistan back in 2012 for my university practice. At first, I was worried about the country, its culture and traditions, but after a month in Samarkand I was so in love with all of that! Since that I always recommend my friends to visit Uzbekistan — very friendly, amazingly beautiful, deeply historical and delicious country 🙂
