i've seen a lot of properties where they call the attic "attic room" so obviously not done to regs.
In this case the stairs are fine but don't really know about the floor joists. Is it cost effective to just replace the floor joists and get building regs to inspect? what i'm getting at is can you bring an inspectors in to identify any non compliance and then get that rectified? i know attics cost upwards of £25K.
