Are you kidding? My dad decking the house out for Christmas every year is one of my favorite memories. When I think back, I don't remember presents as much, but I do remember how magical that holiday season felt because of all of the decor and lights. And doing it as a family with really loud Christmas music playing. I'll never forget those memories!

Me and my family decorare together, and that’s probably when we spend the most time together and create the most memories. If we didn’t decorate I think Christmas would be way less memorable. (Of course this is just my family)

Do whatever brings you joy and holiday cheer 😊. I love Christmas, I love the decorations and beautiful lights and shining ornaments on the tree. I feel happy every time I see them. Some people feel the opposite and it's a massive hassle that they hate and is overwhelming. However you feel is fine just make sure no one from the other side makes you feel pressed or bad for celebrating how you want to.

It warms my heart to take the car ride to get a family tree every year and decorate together with my boys. That’s my max decorating energy though, haha. Plus I don’t do well when there’s too many knickknacks. I dig your minimal approach💗

I remember being so happy during the holidays when it was decorated, I would she. So much more fun and brought so many pleasant memories, I remembered those lore than the gifts. I have been losing some of my memory lately, I can’t remember a lot. Don’t know why since I’m not old, but I will never lose my memories (hopefully lol) of the decorated trees and houses during Christmas. I remember those memories more than my other memories.

I agree actually! Holidays are overwhelming for me trying to make it perfect and the other responsibilities I have outside of my own home. I’m keeping things at a bare minimum this year and it feels great!

That’s fair. :) my house is full of decor. Lol. But how cute is it to get one special tree ornament a year. In 30 years you’ll all be around. This was my fav year and this was mine. ❤ showing grandkids and the story. Very special. 😊

Christmas decorating can be a really fun tradition. My family decorates my mom’s house the day after thanksgiving. This year it was so special because my sister and I don’t get to see each other that much since we both moved out. We laughed so hard the entire time. Decorating can be so fun with your family! ♥️

It’s not always consumerism. My house is full every year of passed down and handmade decorations. It’s a family event to decorate and we make memories and sing carols and spend time together.

Please enjoy your way of doing things, but don’t insult someone else’s and reduce it to something negative. That’s hardly spirit of the holidays :(

I love this! I know a lot of people are saying, "You can decorate with your family/kids and it's so special", but that isn't the reality for everyone. It all depends on the personalities in the house and what kind of decorating you're doing. If I wanted to fully decorate my house I would have to decorate it myself except the tree and stockings. So I love this and I think it's great that you've found something that works for you. 🤗

i know that decorating together as a family is a huge bonding thing for many families in general and in the comments, and i understand that. but this did make me cry, because while it’s not always consumerism, it’s always different for every family. this reminded my of the best christmas i ever had, it was when i was 8 or 9.. we had lost so many material things after having heating treatments and chemical treatments for bed bugs as we lived in poverty. we lost so many things, and we couldn’t afford to get a christmas tree. so our family went to the dollar tree and got the tiniest purple tree, and somehow it was still the most magical christmas. we didn’t get many presents, but the ones we got, all 5 of my siblings remember it, it’s the most special christmas year we had, despite losing so many other material things. thank you for reminding me of this special memory ❤️❤️

Decorating for Christmas never took time away from being with my daughter it’s how we started a tradition with her so she could have core memories of us doing that as a family. And she loves it

We always used decorating as a family activity and then once we had done our houses decorations we would help my Grandad and grandma decorate their house the next day it was always what I looked forward to about Christmas but if it’s not that way in your family it’s fine
