High throughput homogenization methods have helped to eliminate a major bottleneck in HTS laboratories. Homogenization of plant samples, however, can be difficult due to the diverse biochemistry of the group and resilient nature of many tissues. Successful processing of plant samples requires a practical knowledge of the tools available for homogenization and an understanding of the sample itself. This webinar will include a discussion of the tricks and tools used for high throughput processing of plants, focusing on plate homogenizers. Sample type, such as leaf punches and seeds, greatly influences processing format and media type selection and will be covered at length. Cryogenic grinding, a technique often used for RNA isolation, will also be discussed.
