Island Hill Returns with a Bold New EP, Collaborating with Komilev.
After a two-year hiatus since their debut album on Bedrock ’Strangers In Paradise’ - which featured remixes from John Digweed and Red Axes, as well as collaborations with Dee Montero, Of Norway, and Jamie Stevens - Island Hill is back with a new dimension to their signature sound.
For this release, ’The Voyage’ EP, the band has teamed up with Ukrainian producer Komilev, whose recent work on Discotexas, Exploited, Frau Blau, Super Sapiens, and Watergate has turned heads across the electronic music world. His productions are in the crates of the industry's most respected tastemakers, and his influence has pushed Island Hill into exciting new territory.
While ‘The Voyage’ EP still carries Island Hill’s signature lush songwriting and Pacific guitars, this time, the band leans deeper into the dancefloor, weaving in heavily processed vocoder vocals and hypnotic, groove-driven elements. With Komilev's cutting-edge production at the core, these three tracks bring a refined and electrifying new shade to the band’s sound - fusing organic textures with modern club energy.

Title track ‘The Voyage’ started as a breakbeat-driven concept by Dibby and then took on a life of its own, morphing through seven iterations before finding its true shape with Komilev’s input. He brought a distinct vision for the vocal, guiding Albert in delivering a performance that elevated the track to another level. The vocal processing was a challenge, but the end result captures the ethereal, cinematic quality we envisioned. Lyrically, 'The Voyage' takes a stance to challenge the Western political and military violence that has shaped harsh realities around the world.
