Pili multigemini… What is it?! 😱 Dr Somji Explains

Показать описание
Pili multigemini isn’t a concerning issue but people who suffer with this may experience folliculitis where a hair follicle becomes infected. It is usually generic and many people do not even notice they have it! It is when more than one hair emerge from one single hair follicle and almost resembles the appearance of a bunch of flowers!

So what can you do?

•Tweezing - this may cause some discomfort but is an inexpensive option

•Laser hair removal - this is a long term option and will result in permanent reduction in hair growth too

I try to catch these whenever I can. If I don't, sometimes the crowding infects the hair follicle and I get nasty pus filled sores on my face.

I had one swell. Popped it thinking it was a pimple. It was like a dozen hairs curled up over an inch long. Pretty wild.

Sometimes a very thick hair will grow out of nowhere. They are usually ingrown and painful when I find them. I pluck them and show my weird friends. 😂

Typically they aren’t too bad if you pull them early. But the longer you wait the more sensitive the area will get and the more hair you’ve got to pull out making it more painful. So if your prone to this including ingrown hair. Better to get ahead of it.

Sorry for Change of subject, but he should really do some audio books or night time sleep talk downs because his voice is just so soothing.

My fiance has a minor case of this on a wide swath of his back that I originally thought were blackheads! I could spend hours plucking him and it doesn't hurt him at all. SO satisfying

Instead of going out Saturday night, I'll have my friends over for a pili multigemini pulling party!

I had a boyfriend with a beard and he would get these once in a while. I called them bouquets as it reminded me of stems of flowers in a vase. I really got such a sense of satisfaction pulling them out.

My first SO used to get TONS of these. I’d sit on his lap every couple weeks and go over his whole stubble area pulling them out. at first he was bashful about asking me but it was actually a pretty awesome bonding experience. We’re still great friends though he has since moved to Spain.

I have this a lot on my knees and elbows. 2 or 3 hairs coming out of the same pore, usually 1 or 2 of the hairs are really thin and there's always a thick one.

I have that in the more intimate region of my body and it has caused some inflammation before

Much easier and less painful if you use tweezers with a point and grab 1 hair at a time.

Ugh, I remember getting these sometimes when I was younger. Some of them were the diameter of pencil lead and made up of flat layers of hair that came apart like wooden slats after pulling them out. Sometimes they'd bring a sheath of "skin" and/or the follicle root out with them.

Doctor, what can be done about sebaceous hyperplasia? As I get older, my fair skin has been getting these blemishes on my forehead and cheeks.

One of my coworkers complained about his scalp hurting one morning. I found a single hair that was about 15 times thicker and shaped like a teardrop looking from the top. It was stiff too. Pulled it out and grew back normal. Now that was very weird.
