Your video saved me $165.00 dollars, the price local locksmiths were asking, after my Honda Pilot key fob was damaged. I brought the replacement fob from Amazon for a mere $6.75, then watched your video and had the re-fobbed key working in 5 minutes after the time it took to watch your video.

Thanks! This is the most detailed instructional video for my 2007 Accord with the transponder. Helped confirm that would need to destroy the old case in order to get to the transponder.

Thank you so much for the help and tutorial in getting this project done. I was able to successfully change out two of my Honda car keys, which were broken, and it saved me a fair amount of money by following your video. All it cost me was $10...parts were purchased from Amazon.

I thought I could replace the shell, but your video helped me to KNOW I could. I was going to return these, as the Amazon ad deceptively made it sound like it had a chip slot (“Replacement for 4 Button Honda Remote Key Shell - with Chip Holder”), but 2-sided plastic carpet tape worked fine. The only frustration was in cutting the key blade out of the old shell: It was just tedious. Saved $250 from dealer quote (May 2024). $10 for 2 shells plus my labor. Thank you!

Thank you so much man!
I just bought a case from AliExpress.
But was confused with the small black chip.. took it off.. put a double sided tape as you mentioned.
Cleaned the remote and button with small smooth paint brush, installed on new case shell.
All went smoothly, even the sticker was ease with heat gun.
I heated the back of the sticker, stick on the new one.
Now the key looks like new 👍and solid.

Done and 10 min and used the old guts so I don’t have to reprogram remote. Wrapped chip in electrical tape fits like a glove

I am quite surprised that the heatgun is not used for dissasembling the case with heavy glue work. Any particular reason ? Is it to protect the pcb inside ?

bought one of these kits off of eBay. worked for the most part but the screw they included was too long. So I may need to source a slightly shorter one. It enough to go through and then pushes the two pieces of the key apart

I am dealing with this right now and unfortunately the other person who glued the remote together they glued the guts together and they lost the chip

I can’t remove the screw from the key. It’s beyond striped. Practically just a piece of metal stuck in there.

I have a 2007 Honda Accord Sedan EX-L. Bought it used. The guy I bought it from had only 1 key. After a year, the battery died. I continued to use the key to enter and start the car just fine. I eventually took it apart to get a new battery. and used (just the key) the side without the chip...to enter and start the car. So the RFID/Microchip wasn't needed. Idk if it's just my car, but I wonder of anyone has ever tried it. Honda wants like $300, online an "unprogrammed" one cost $85...with then you need to bring it o Honda or a locksmith. The locksmith told me $110 if I needed it duplicated if I didn't have a "blank" replacement key. I told him I just wanted a laser cut part of the key. After insisting I don't need it programed he told me $40 for just the laser cut. I think the older version of cars that still have an actual key, some may not need that "chip".
