LOL I am searching for an alternative to Videostudio for all the reasons you mentioned in connection with Pinnacle!
I have used VS for about 10 years and whilst it has decent upgrades each year the stability gets worse each year.
If Videostudio needs a catchy slogan I would recommend one that they use all the time "Do you want to recover the previous project file?"

Thanks ... you answered the exact question I was wanting to know. I have Pinnacle Studio but it crashes so much. I liked the look of VideoStudio until I realised it was also from Corel, so I wanted to know if it was more stable than Pinnacle Studio. You answered that exact question in this video ... I have been using Corel videostudio for many years. I never used pinnacle.
I must say I'm pretty happy with videostudio ultimate 2020.
I had a couple crashes but got it resolved.
A buddy of mine says it does not like MOV files
Or some filters stacked up. So I stopped using MOV files and use something smaller and it seems to perform well. What version of Corel Studio Pro are you using ?

I agree 100% I have been using Pinnacle up until last year I thought I would give Video studio 2019 a try I now have VS 2020. Pinnacle is garbage for all the reasons in this video and more. I started using Pinnacle because I got my first one free and just keep going with the upgrades. Video Studio Ultimate I find is far more functional and easier to use. I am a avid Corel fan I have DRAW Graphics Suite, Painter and paint shop pro Ultimate plus all the plugins like Particle Shop and Boris stuff like that. I do a lot of video editing, making titles for videos and lots of motion graphics. I will never go back to Pinnacle. Corel should just drop Pinnacle all together and just keep advancing Video Studio.

Unfortunately I bought Pinnacle Studio 22 about 9 months ago. For me it crashes constantly. And its UI is not intuitive to me. I am now evaluating Corel Video Studio. The interesting thing is that though VideoStudio looks almost the same, it is much better in my opinion. The minor differences in UI somehow makes a great difference in usability. And it crashed for me only when i really pushed it to the edge.

Your ending cracked me up, oops! Into the round file! My first video edit software was Pinnacle, it came wtih that Pinnacle box with different ports. Still have it. But I could use it so I am looking to upgrade and considering both. I have Corel VS Ultimate X10 but have never used it. So was thinking of going to VS Ultimate 2022 but looking around before spending the money. And I remembered my Pinnacle fun. I mainly want to make youtube videos, do you think VS x10 is good enough or should I upgrade to the new 2022 one? Don't really need a lot of special effects, not editing 4 cameras together or anything like that. More like this kind of video you did. Thanks

I’m using just a little HP laptop from like 2016. 64 bit. Could it run this program ok? Video studio seems good but I’m worried my laptop won’t be able to handle it. I’m not looking to edit full length movies but something to the effect that windows movie maker could do? If not what’s another good software to use because the new wmm is terrible and basic now

I see you have upgraded to videostudio ultimate 2018. I too have that version but am having an issue with the newbluefx colorfast filter (the entire reason I went with ultimate was for that filters better color grading and masking). As soon as I add that filter the preview video becomes insanely choppy and just makes the entire project unimaginable as it skips all over the place. I have tested with my laptop as well as my desktop (desktop i7 4790k OC to 4.6ghz, 16gb Ram, AMD R9 390 8gb GPU, laptop i5, 12gb ram and integrated intel he GPU) both using proxy file, verified proxy was complete before adding color filter. Any chance you have same issue if you use the colorfast filter? I was thinking to try pinnacle new version as it has its own new color grading built in so maybe it works better than third party plugin but definitely not wanting something more buggy.

these are both old versions of the programs. I have used both for years. I always thought VS was easier to use than PS but PS has way more stuff. However it seems like there was issues with version 16 of PS with AVID that sound it to Corel. Issues with features ownership due to AVID using Pro Level tools put into Pinnacle. Version 17 was the 1st Corel version of PS. I always wondered if Corel would not combine the 2 products. It seems from VS x10 multicam and PS 19 multicam was the same Scorefitter and the such. Looks like any new feature is 1st being tested in PS and then put Into VS. Due to this it is no wonder you feel this way. .

I know this is an old video so my comment will be a little late. However it will clarify some issues. Pinnacle was the original company and creator and sold it to Avid Studio around version 16 of the program and was used as a lower version of their high end stuff. Version 17 starts the Corel versions. But avid did have some say so in it by contract however they changed the engine in to the Corel video studio engine if you notice when Corel video studio and Pinnacle studio crash they and give the same NG studio error largely when rendering. I think this has to do with the 64 bit upgrade from 32 bit original programs not being written well. Although both programs are getting better the original 32 bit programs worked great. Strange but even the high end programs hang up.
