Praying in faith for the Lord to save my Muslim co-worker and give me His words to share

Faith.

Some say it is a leap. For those of us who have faith in Jesus, it is a way of life greater than sight.

This last week I was invited to Dubai to teach a 12 hour seminary class on Faith.

We started with the words of Jesus to his disciples: “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there, ’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” ~Matthew 17:20

We spent the 1st 3 hours of class talking about how Faith comes from hearing! In Genesis 12-22, Abraham had faith or not depending on who he was listening to. Paul later used Abraham as an example of faith in his letter to the Romans which he wrote as a masterclass on the gospel to bring about the obedience of faith (Romans 1:5, 16:26). He writes “faith comes from hearing, and hearing from the word of Christ (Romans 10:17).” When you believe Jesus is the Christ who died for our sins and rose to give us a new, eternal life this is the response of faith.

We spent the 2nd three hour class talking about how to pray with Faith! Instead of praying “me” centered prayers we need to learn how to pray for God’s name to be hallowed! Prayer is Appealing to God’s attributes as the reason for him to act. It is Bringing God’s own word back up to him for his will to be done. It is praying in the plural to Confess our sins, even on behalf of others as we intercede for them. THANK YOU to every single one of you who prayed for me on this trip! Not only was I able to finish teaching the class to the students there, but I came back from Dubai more full of faith than ever before. (And more jet lagged than ever before too!) What a blessing it has been to hear from some of the students there who were encouraged to have faith!

JESUS IS BUILDING HIS CHURCH AMONG THE NATIONS, JUST LIKE HE SAID HE WOULD!

Jesus was looking to see who had faith. In Matthew 8, Jesus saw faith in a leper and a Roman centurion. He did not see it in his own disciples who were looking to the wind and the waves. Matthew 8:26 is the verse I was reading in this picture:

And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

This verse wasn’t just for the disciples, but it was written for me too. Why am I afraid of what will happen to me through the trials in my life, when Jesus has already said what will happen to all who believe in him?!

I am so thankful to Eric Zeller for the invitation to teach and for Bill Blakey and Matt Shew who travelled with me and made this video from our trip.

Jesus is still looking for faith today.

In Luke 18:8 he asks the question: “…Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

I want Jesus to find me having faith.

May he find you having faith too.

“Lord, I believe, help my unbelief!”

When Jesus says go… I want to go! Wherever and whenever! It may not be somewhere glamorous, but it’s where Jesus is. When he says follow me, he calls to follow him now. Praying to have more faith in his words!

Matthew 8:33-34

The herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the demon-possessed men. And behold, all the city came out to meet Jesus, and when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

After witnessing Jesus free two demon-possessed men, the people of the city didn’t come out to worship and praise Jesus. Instead they were more concerned about the dead pigs than the two souls who were just delivered, so they didn’t just ask but begged for Jesus to leave. How do we regard the lost souls of the people who are still dead in their sins around us? Are we like people of the city who value worldly possessions more than seeing God do His mighty works? Are we committed to making disciples or are we too busy caring about our “pigs”? We need to go and be a laborer of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Leave the “pigs” and go and follow Jesus.

Matthew 9:36-38

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

All we need is Jesus!!! 🙌🏾

I love psalm 16 because it reminds me to keep a quiet heart. When I understand that he alone hold my lot
Everything is under the almighty control and he has purpose for it all.

Psalm 16:5, 7-11
[5] The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.
I believe it!!

[7] I bless the LORD who gives me counsel; in the night also my heart instructs me. [8] I have set the LORD always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. [9] Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. [10] For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption. [11] You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I can have faith because I believe and have confidence in who my father said he is.

Wonderful, and Timely Message that I needed to hear right now. I must keep my focus on Jesus, and on the Gospel. NOT on the voices of those accusing me and twisting the Truth of the Bible. 💖 Thank You, Pastor Bobby, and the SOTD Team!!

Matthew 8:26-27

[26] And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. [27] And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

Such a great verse to read this morning. I love how these men go from fearing what they would think are uncontrollable circumstances, such as the weather, to then seeing Jesus’ power over the wind and the waves and they end up marveling! What a blessing it is to see the works of Jesus Christ. Reflecting on this, after seeing Jesus’ power in our lives how do we have faith in him the next time the wind and the waves pick up? Do we fear again or do we trust in him?

Praying that I would see the works and character of Jesus Christ my Lord and that it would build up my relationship with him and therefore faith/ trust in him!!!

Romans 10:17

[17] So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

As we hear the words of Christ, I’m praying God builds up our faith in the person of Jesus Christ! Jesus clearly takes faith personal in Matthew 8 and he is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

What does Jesus think of our faith?

I am super encouraged by this SOTD. The trial my family is in has been a roller coaster since January and seeing Pastor Bobby stand on the window floor with 53 floors beneath him made me feel those emotions from this year. We are NOT alone!!! Jesus is with me and has decreed ALL things! James 1:6 “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”

Mmmm yes the first time I read through the Gospels (First saved) I never saw the build up towards even gentiles having faith. But reading about this centurion!

The faith we see in Matthew 8 is so important for us. Reading this and applying it to our lives will help us build our relationship with God!! If we truly believe He healed these people thousands of years ago, why could he not get us through trials today?? Praying this church would build up its faith to set an example for HB and beyond

What a reminder and encouragement to focus on Jesus and not the trial. Maybe be more like a Centurion and less like a disciple in this instant.

I don’t think I could go on top of that building. I don’t trust man made things. However I have been a the tip of the Half Dome looking over the edge with little fear because I was on a rock that God made.
Thank you Pastor Bobby for SOTD.

Yeah verse 22 stood out to me the most.

[22] And Jesus said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”
This stood out to me because before Jesus we were all good as dead. It is because of him that we have life. Specially the last part “the dead bury their own dead”. What good does it do to attend to your father first before Christ, when it is Christ who gives life. By attending to you father first you are guaranteeing the death to both. Like in medical triage whenever there is a disaster or anything they say don’t help others before you help yourself make sure you’re safe, or else everything you do is in vain.

Ephesians 2:1-2

[1] And you were dead in the trespasses and sins [2] in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience

People really don’t understand the power of God….they really don’t understand how powerful God is…..thank you sweetie….right if you will….because it’s always about his will ultimately whether people want to believe it or not

Thank you SOTD.

How awesome, our Lord came to fulfill all the Scriptures. We can count on all his promises.
And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” referring to Levitus 14.

And Jesus marveled at the Centurion's faith. Reminds me of James 1:6 - But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.

Thank you father for your faithfulness. We can trust in all your words, even our growth and faith in you is an act of your hands to fulfill your promises.

Wow so encouraging to hear how the class has encouraged everyone’s faith. I am encouraged because we prayed that God would use our team in a mighty way in the lives of others and no surprise that’s what’s happening. Faith is so important that without it we can’t please God. Heb 11:6 Lord help us to understand more and more the power you have over the circumstances of life. YOU CAN!!
