The prunes are such a lovely touch. In Serbia they use fermented cabbage and a mixture of rice with minced meat.

omg this reminds me of Romanian sarmale, i think our version would typically be a bit more simple in terms of ingredients and spices, but still so good

In Cape Town South Africa, we have a Cape Malay dish like this with steak mince stuffed in the cabbage rolls..but cooked after laying the parcels, in a type of bredie/stew..served on a "bed" 😉 of white rice.. its called "Ou mense onder die kombers"... thats Afrikaans for ..Old people under the blankets. ❤ its one of my most cherished dishes.

In Ukraine we have a similar dish called Holubtsi that can be vegan but it’s usually cooked in a tomato sauce.

Looks like Sarma we have here from Serbia and also Poland has similar with tomato sauce and Turkish are originators with minced meat and rice like we make at least I think it's Turkish dish
