Roman Holiday; Press Conference
Показать описание
This six minute clip is from the end of the classic "Roman Holiday". In this scene, Audrey Hepburn, as a princess who had for the previous week run away from her responsibilities as a royal member to enjoy her life incognito in the company of Gregory Peck (an American reporter) and Eddie Albert (American photographer", returns to her Royal duties. She is initially frightened by the site of Peck at the press conference for fear that he is going to reveal what she has been up to. In a slightly coded message, Hepburn expresses her wishes that he say nothing, and Peck responds that her secret is safe. Trying to be diplomatic, when asked what her favorite part of her European trip was, she begins by complementing all the cities and countires visited, but looking up once more and thinking back on all that she shared with Peck, she speaks her mind and answers "Rome", the city that they galavanted through together. As the conference ends, she does all that she can to delay leaving, going so far as stepping down to meet members of the press (something that no royal at that time would do), just so that she can be with him just a bit longer. You can see her choke back tears as she knows she must leave him. Not only a great and understated love scene, it speaks volumes when contrasted today against Royal events. Hepburn is more regal than todays real life monarchs, and the press in the movie is polite to the point of reverential...a far cry from the press of today.
