When I was a child and I had a feeling that something cringey was about to happen on a show that I was watching, I would leave my parents bedroom and go to my room and stay there for a little bit until I felt like it would be over. 😂

NO BUT WHY IS THIS SO TRUE
Every time an embarrassing moment on a show/movie, I cover my ears, turn away, or just straight up leave the room till its over

In Germany this is called “Fremdschämen” which translates to “feeling embarrassed for a stranger/another person” or “embarrassed to see that person being in this situation”

I remember as a kid (an even now to an extent) never being able to watch and enjoy movies with the rest of my family because they always loved comedy movies where much of the "comedy" hinged on one of the characters doing something embarrassing and you were supposed to laugh at it, but for me it was just physical pain

I usually pause the show and walk around frantically before sitting down and pressing play- usually repeating the whole thing within a few seconds to minutes
