A few of you will already know how to do this, but I thought that a dedicated vid would be useful since we have recentl looked at a tubular lock key cutting machine :-)

Remember: only pick locks that are yours and that are not in use! Keep locksport legal!

Great Vid. As I mentioned in other posts, Tubular locks is a fun and fascinating part of the lock pick environment and nobody has really delved into it like they should. Someone should make an instructional video on the different size tub's, different pin counts, tools to use to crack them and I see you've stated you made a vid of the Klom key cutter. The newer tubes now have differing pin tensions which make impressioning them improbable, though they have the ACE tub impressioner which has a dial for each individual pin, so it wouldn't defeat that= but that costs 400 bucks, lol. I'm working this winter and plan on setting up a space in a rented storage unit from which I plan on shooting video's. Maybe I'll make a video series on it. I might try seeing if I can get someone to manufacture different types of tub tensioners, which I touched on in a previous post. A new design I thought of would be to find out the different widths of all your common tub locks (though I believe they are all the exact same) and simply make a tensioner that fits it properly and then have the bar for it off to the side. It wouldn't be very different from your normal BOK tensioner, so the mod for it would be simple, you'd only need to get the correct gauge of wrench, but it would have to be one that 'sits' into the cut out. There also needs to be a more dedicated tool created for depressing the pins. My .025 doesn't fit the majority of time and I'm gonna work on something of a slimmer gauge. Was thinking your monkey paw- but without the bend, just a straight pick with a divot out of it. I'd have to see if tub top pins are rounded or flat, I believe they are flat, so maybe even a plunger that had a fork on it that would snuggly fit over the pin on each side, that way you wouldn't be slipping off it all the time. Like I said in your Multipick Tensioner review, tub locks and the workings of them are a very unhighlighted part of lock picking, and I think that's why people don't delve into it, because you have to buy a bunch of stuff to really 'know' about it. Maybe I'll do it this winter. Anyone, Cheers m8.

Another excellent helpful video. All the locksmiths in my area charge a minimum of £10 to cut tubular keys so It makes sense for me to buy one of those cutters. Can you tell me where blanks can be purchased? from as I'm having difficulty finding them. Thanks

I find it interesting that you can use a 7.5 mm tool to cut a working key on a 7.3 mm cutter. What are the chances that's actually a 7.8 mm lock?

I see so many positive comments about this video. The Title states "Impressioning and Decoding a Tubular Lock to Make a New Key" when it is NOT IMPRESSIONING a key... this video shows only how to DECODE and CUT a Barrel Key. Thanks for mislabeling your video sir, now how do I get my wasted EXTREMEL VALUABLE time back from you?... THUMBS DOWN... Sorry!
