To answer ‘why they are doing this’, Indian government system is that of welfare. A lot of these companies were started to fill a void created by the absence of private sector industries. Now it will be difficult for any govt to shut them down/privatise on a large scale given how many people are employed in these. There’s always such a hue and cry over privatisation, no govt would be willing to take that risk.

A better way to look at this would be to identify which PSUs are bleeding the most and have lost their importance due to presence of competition in the market.

There has been number of cases piling up and we have shortage of judges. Those vacant positions should be filled asap. I feel like our judiciary is the only thing which is acting as a pillar of constitution. Rest all pillars have crumbled

What about public transport and Electricity
Should they privatize it and handover acres of prime land that these PSUs own to private players in lieu of peanuts? ( 1 rupee acre to Ad*ni)
And leave the common man to pay exorbitant?

State capacity is limited? Who is this clown? No private entity can compete with government. They will make one law and with in a night tables will turn.

Even if a PSU is bleeding money in losses ( and not in theft ), it might not be a bad thing . A good example is the Railways . Railways can become profitable overnight, by increasing ticket prices and there is no other substitute and you'll be bound to pay the exorbitant price . The fact that we can afford tickets is actually welfare transferred from the state to the public . The man's argument is too simplified for such a complex economic issue . Remember just because an answer is simple doesn't mean it's the right solution.

I work in a PSU, First thing government dont fund the psu now, PSU works for their own business, most of the psu business are profitable, government take hefty dividends from them at the end of every financial year. People selected in PSU are extraordinarily talented because they fight for competitive exams. Spreading the narrative that psu are inefficient is bullshit.

Please say governments...not government...State govts runs bulk of these PSEs...Central govt has controlling stake in close to 300...as of today there is overall profit...and these companies have their own management..govt doesn't run theses companies...

No it's just they don't work and take responsibility. Just blame game at every stage of the organization for every simple task.

Government must limit itself to judiciary and administration. And administration system big reform like body camera while on duty. Less interfaces in people life and private bussiness.
