Greenberg is a professor of history, journalism, and media studies at Rutgers and has also worked as a columnist for Politico and served as an editor at Slate. Combining a practical as well as an academic understanding of how media images are created and cultivated, Greenberg follows his study of one politician’s shifting and elusive image in Nixon’s Shadow with this chronicle of the rise of publicists, pollsters, and the sophisticated use of sound bites and photo ops under American presidents from Theodore Roosevelt to Obama.

Greenberg is in conversation with Bob Woodward.
