8mm bolt… tell me what does… I’d suggest, in combination with that large washer, it acts as some kind of cover or seal retainer and it’s taking no structural or indeed dynamic load. Of course I don’t actually know, but as a mechanical design engineer, with 40-years experience I think my guess is valid. What qualifies you to make such a damning judgement..? By the way, you might be interested to know that many modern aircraft fuselages (military and civil) are bonded together with epoxy resin.
