Germany Road Trip: Sledding the Bavarian Alps + Munich!

This is our final Germany Road Trip vlog here in Bavaria Germany, our 29th country on our round the world trip! We’ve made it to the beautiful ski-town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany where we spend the day sledding the slopes atop the Zugspitze - The Top of Germany!

We took the Zugspitze cable car up Germany’s highest mountain and the views were incredible. From the top, you can see four countries - Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Italy! Renting sleds on Zugspitze is very simple and they even take credit cards. With our sleds in hand, we made our way to the slopes and had the best time shredding the snow! This is one of the best things to do when in Bavaria, Germany so be sure to add it to your itinerary.

After a fun day in Bavaria’s winter wonderland, we continue on to Munich, Germany where we try delicious german food at the famous Hofbrauhaus! The Munich Hofbrauhaus is SO MUCH FUN! And, the German food and beer are wonderful. We got the Dunkel and Radler beers, Weisswurst (Bavarian white sausages), Kartoffelsalat (German Potato Salad), Sauerkraut, and a big fat German Pretzel!

With our tummies full, we shopped for over an hour at the Munich Christmas Market at Marienplatz where we picked up gifts and german desserts for our friends and family for Christmas. And, of course, we had to stop and eat more tasty German Kartoffelpuffers - German potato pancakes! They were SO GOOD.

To round out our 6-month European travel adventures, we flew back home to Dallas from Europe on Delta One Business Class! We were so happy to use one of the best travel hacks to fly business class at such a low cost - only 72K miles and $378 Each!

We hope you enjoyed our Germany Road Trip vlog series and, as always, we’ll see you in our next video as we Keep Going Places!

What.a way to end your time in Germany. Did I spot the Kofel at 1:28 on your way from Fuessen to Garmisch? Our house was just across the meadow. So much fun you all had sledding. GaPa is one of our go to places when we visit as it makes a wonderful base for visiting that part of Bavaria. Munich brought back some more good memories (spent way too much time at the Hofbrauhaus as a teen skipping classes) and weisswurst is a favorite (though Jordan next time you peel the wurst (or if you prefer you can make a slight cut in the end and suck the meat out) when eating. No cutting of weisswurst allowed LOL). Sad to see this journey end but looking forward to your future travel.

We actually sledded up there in August, because parts of it remain frozen year round.

Nice one! Enjoyed all your Germany videos so far. The sledding/tobogganing looks awesome!
In case you ever have to pronounce German names in the future: German has no silent vowels at the end of a word. So with words like Zugspitze or Porsche for example, the E is always pronounced, it's like a short -uh in English. 🙂 Also, Z has quite a harsh sound in German, so Zugspitze starts more like "tsoo" (e.g. Tsunami), not "zoo". And the "kirchen" of "Partenkirchen" is also not "kirKen", the "ch" is a soft sound which is hard to explain, it's best to listen to a German saying it. Sorry to bother you with unsolicited pronounciation advice... 😅 I really like your vlogs!
