I love how the best tips are often so simple I feel like it's obvious now that I know 😅

But hey, it's easy to get so stuck on the details that the simple ideas showing the big picture aren't in our minds. Thank you for this💕

I KNEW there was a reason to splurge on the warm AND the cool grey toned Copic markers!!!! I did, it took me a while to get both sets and even some of those light undertone markers they make.

I don't even use markers. But I have used those for this. I only took one Domestika class where these were implemented, but that clas taught me a ton and it was this, bit nit thumbnails, it was the same blocking in shapes with the almost clear under drawing and then it went on to using a fine-ish grey Zebra brush pen and then some black ones and a big Pentel brush pen.

Learning how to layer with straight angular shapes, even while putting things in boxes for proper perspective was absolutely one of the best lessons/courses I ever could have learned from.
And it works for ALL mediums. Painters use under-paintings and they draw their reference before they begin their paintings.

Thus is very helpful, I love drawing. I love graphite so much. I am really enjoying brush pen work and even Bic pen drawings.

I started taking tutorials on YouTube and learning from how-to books only 3 years ago. I am absolutely shocked at how far I've come when before I could barely doodle on an envelope and to even think I'd ever be comfortable drawing hands? Well because that was the one thing everyone always complained about, I decided to draw 30 hands in 30 days. That was the very first thing I did. I was learning other things too of course but I wanted to get comfortable with the one thing that made people the most uncomfortable.

I have a LONG way to go. But I just have to say, I never thought I'd get here in my wildest dreams in only a few years. Thank you Proko, your channel has truly been one of THE most helpful YouTube tutorial channels I ever could have wished for. It's been the biggest help. And it isn't charging me like Skillshare and Domestika are which as a disabled housebound artist, I was barely able to scrape enough together to be able to join and don't think I can do it year after year. So please don't ever leave. Your a goldmine of information and how to's!

Thank you!!!!

this is by far one of the most helpful tutorials I've seen in a while. I never really knew how to break down lighting or how to even approach it. I'll def be using this

You are a brilliant teacher. The five values represented at the top and then shown as selected when you are applying them makes it intuitive. Simple, but so effective at getting my brain to see the values on the page.

This is also a really good practice for identifying values and learning how contrasting your shadows can be!

I will try this!! Thank you so much! I have been hesitant on drawing, and only to say drawing is part of the journey. Anyone reading this, keep going, I am 25 and currently still learning, and I’m nowhere near perfection, and you will go far!! Believe that this journey will eventually be worth it even after your challenges, setbacks, and obstacles to face. You got this!!! Sending my best wishes to anyone who needs this!

In my drawing class, before we made our main project, we always had to make a few thumbnails to get our ideas straight. They were very useful

Thank you for this! I'll definitely use this for my next piece. I'm guilty of just diving in without a plan and making everything harder on myself. :P
