This was horror that was way overdue. Slow burn, great acting, interesting plot, and sooo much camp/nostalgia. Glad I saw this!

For those of you who don't understand the ending -- In the tape, it was said that the cult sacrifices children to make the demon happy. During the FBI raid, D'Abo (the cult leader) decides to sacrifice every children by letting them all burn. But wait, the sacrifice is incomplete because Lilly escaped and she has been in protective custody. So, the demon and the cultists find a loyal servant who would do anything to get fame (Jack). Cut to the end, the demon tricks Jack into killing Lilly hence completing the unfinished sacrifice. Demon is all happy and the text on TV reads "So it is done". Jack was a scapegoat for the demon. He's never gonna be successful after murdering a child. Minnie's brief appearance on stage was to try and save her husband since she knew the demon's motive. But the demon was way too powerful than her.

He souled his soul to the devil and the devil sacrificed his wife for his fame. The ending was inside jacks head whilst being possessed! Lilly says when Mr Wriggles takes over it feels like a dream. Great movie 😊

did no one catch the part where the movie says if you see the ritual you have joined and then the “so it is done” at the end signifying that we watched the full ritual basically.

*When the TV cut to static* and a face comes through it - echoing the “I don’t think the devil is going to climb through the viewers TVs” I damn near had a heart attack cos I watched this at midnight 💀

Here is what I gathered from it: SPOILERS!

Jack traded his wife's soul to the demon in exchange for Fame. When Lily is possessed she references this by saying to him they've met before in the tall trees confirming he probably went into the forest somewhere and performed the ritual. His Wife then dies of lung cancer having not smoked! The ending of him killing Lily is him releasing his wife's soul from the demon hence why we see him stabbing his wife which then snaps back into reality where he is actually stabbing Lily, signifying the end of His 'Fame', which is further driven home by the police sirens that you can hear in the background, most probably ending with him going to jail and his wife's soul finally able to rest.

Why am I hearing no one talking about the (at least) 2 times the ghost appears in reflections. Once in the mirror after Jack and his manager have had a talk during the first ad break and again in the cult objects on the tray

Imagine coming home late after work, trying to wind down by watching your favourite late night talk show, and you turn on the tv and are watching some demon fire lady killing everyone and then watching the host kiss and kill a little girl… like wtf

Something is so horrifying about this movie and I can't quite pin point it. The movie felt like it lasted a total of 5 minutes. Not sure how I feel about this movie but hey.

Personally i think what happened is jack unknowingly sold his wife's soul for success. His wife's soul was intertwined/trapped with either the demon pocessing lilly or abraxas (not sure if they are one and the same because june differentiates the 2 demons earlier on). The demon within Lilly actually does kill everyone at the end except Jack...however jacks wife, Minnie, is trying to help not only free herself but possibly save humanity from the demons escape from lilly so she convinces/tricks Jack into stabbing her (and thus the little girl) which prevented the demon from escaping. Given jack has just stabbed a girl on live tv, he sacrificed the success he was promised for the soul of his wife which im guessing voided the contract and allowed minnie's soul to be set free. Its the only reason that Minnie was there in my opinion, because she was tied to the demon as per jacks original deal.

To reiterate, the last favor Minnie asks of jack would be to sacrifice his success so her soul could be free as i assume jack would be sent to jail and the show cancled although she doesnt deliberately tell jack that that is what is going to happen but he knew he had no right to ask questions.

Probably off with this, but my take…

I think the demon poseessing Lily ultimately became a distraction from the true possession/haunting of Madeline seeking vengeance on Jack for sacrificing her. Her spirit was not gonna let him ride into the sunset with some cute author after a well-crafted show.

I loved the movie! The only thing they keep failing over and over is a decent demon voice. I'm so tired of that cheap double-voice trick.

Just got out of the theater. 8/10 movie, i definitely recommend seeing it!!
