You may be a beginner but you are already doing it some much better than many - I'm impressed

I own a regular 1963 in 38mm, which I prefer over 40mm. I bought it four or five years ago and it still works well. I have seen stories though, indicating that the quality can be hit or miss. Especially since there are several Chinese companies making and selling these watches and there is some controversy over which ones are the originals. Jody from the "Just one more watch" youtube channel made several pretty good videos, doing some research into the origins. Look them up for more information.

Hi Mary. I love your work as a musician (most recently the NAMM report). You're really talented and your videos highlight your knowledge and musicianship. Now, I enjoy your watch videos. I'm a synth/keyboard musician (when I'm not lawyering and running a software company), and now have 20-25 watches. So you check all of the boxes of things I enjoy. Keep up the great work! Hi Mary! I just love your Seagull. I don't have one myself, but I do own two microbrand watches with the ST-1901 movement. One is the EMG DL63, the other is the Hemel Air Wing. Absolutely solid movements on both watches. I love them both. The ST1901, or the 1908 with moon phase in your case, are great chronograph movements for the price. Keep 'em coming! 😊

That was great. Brilliant research and presentation. No seagulls in my collection…. Yet.

The was fun, ma'am. It's always interesting to see what others find interesting other than their vocation. Thanks for sharing your journey.

I bought a 1963 not that long ago. I went for the acrylic crystal, same colour way and material of the original piece as I wanted to maintain the vibe of that period.

Mine however is by Red Star and is I believe a licensed reissue of the original. I bought this one for the exhibition caseback, which you don't get on the standard Sea-Gull version.

This popped up in my YouTube feed, always great to see new watch channels, and I agree with other posts, really interesting thoughts and ideas, and excellent production quality. Will you be reviewing watches as well? It's always enriching to hear the diverse thoughts of watch reviewers. Instant sub!

This one took me by surprise, Mary – one of the nicest Seagulls I've ever seen. Glad you managed to get one on your wrist, and your growing collection gets more impressive all the time.

Semi Pro Trombonist and watch collector here. I do have a seagull 1963 38mm sapphire crystal in the classic champagne gold. It's a perfect colour for autumn and winter outfits. My only regret was not going for the acrylic version. The sapphire crystal doesn't go to the edge of the dial. Deviation is about 10 seconds a day. I'd like to regulate it myself by I can't find the right case back tool.

Other interesting chronographs I'd look at is the Seiko Gen 1. A watch supplied to the RAF and the Royal Navy. The 7A28 movement is the world's first analogue quartz chronograph. Also have a look at the Poljot Strela. The white dial/silver variant with gold markers and a blue chronograph second hand is a reissue of Alexei Leonov's watch. He was the first man to go on a spacewalk for 12 minutes.

I have these watches in my collection and would be happy to to lend those into the channel for review.

Very well presented Mary, you explain things in simple terms that are easy to relate to, something that can get a tad confusing when starting out learning about watches. with some descriptions in different languages. I love the green and bronze colours, if you want to keep the bronze case nice and shiny it should clean up pretty well with good old lemon juice, I don't have a bronze watch yet but I think I'd let it patina (tarnish) as it adds character. A great channel by a real person who is getting into watches and sharing that experience with them.

I’ve got the 1963 21 jewel version and surprisingly it consistent;y keeps nearly as good a time as my Speedmaster and my Aqua Terra. It’s between +3 to +5 seconds a day. Absolute bargain and they look great.

i own this movement in two timepieces - the 38mm 60th anniversary in bronze, and a 38.5mm series 1 lorier gemini. they're now about 2 and 4 years old respectively, and i still love them both to this day.

Way cool, beautiful and relatively affordable watch! I actually recently ordered a different mechanical chronograph with the ST-1901 movement, but decided to return it upon arrival simply because I found a “too good to pass up” deal on a different watch I had been looking for. Stunning movement though, and I’m sure I’ll order another someday!
