Barakah LDN is a grassroots football group created by three young Muslim Londoners that centres Muslim and minoritised women in football. A story from Fulham about young people taking ownership and tackling the issue of low participation of Muslim women and girls in football, creating a space that encourages community and connection.

“Barakah LDN means so much to me. It is a way to give back to a younger me who really struggled to find spaces to play football without feeling judged or excluded because of my faith. It's also a way for me to serve my community, both in Fulham and across the city, and to play an active role in changing the lives of women and girls through sports.”

- Sagal Abdullahi, Co-Founder Barakah LDN

I love how u said “feeling comfortable” when playing football was one of your top priorities. Because that’s the main barrier that’s stopping me and many other girls from playing openly. Constantly being judged or ridiculed for trying your best in a sport you love, isn’t a pleasant experience. But since I’ve joined the barakah sessions, I can wholeheartedly say that my love for football has been restored! The growth has been phenomenal👏🏾 from winning leagues, playing friendly matches and participating in weekly scrimmages with fellow teammates… what more can I ask! Thank you for providing this space!🙌🏾
