I have a client on a full domain network from all my research, and while this video IS ACCURATE, the setting seems to be non-effective. I am reading that this is also related to shared printers and network printers. In fact I am reading that everyone has reported different printers and different configurations - this still occurs. I am still looking for a perm. solution to this issue. Certainly feels like a bug in the newer builds of Win 10.

I have followed this procedure and my printer keeps defaulting to FAX. Any more suggestions?

This seems like it should solve it, but it doesn't. Every program I use still makes choose the last used printer. It isn't as though it makes it default, but it chooses it by default so I am assuming that's the same thing. But still - chrome use the last use printer, outlook uses the last used printer, even notepad does it. Even though I have turned that feature off.

I setup a quick scheduled task on the HOST computer to re-set the default printer every time it detects a change in the event log. The scheduled task runs when an 823 event is detected in the PrintServices/Admin log. The scheduled task just kicks off a batch file that is setup to run this command:

wmic printer where name='insert printer name' call setdefaultprinter
