All of these seem interesting. Guess a few more books in the backlog won't hurt.

That first book, Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England, was one of my college textbooks! I took a medieval history class

You are in my top 5 follows this year! Thank you for teaching me so much and for doing it in a fun way. My sons are 7 and 8, as soon as they hear your voice they run over to see the period dress and learn about history. ❤

Thank you for this. I love your passion for London history which sits very close to my heart also. I love learning from you and wish you had your own show like Tony Robbins ❤️

Oh I am so excited about this!! I absolutely loved Time Travelers Guide to Medieval England (I’m currently reading his Elizabethan time traveler’s guide) so I am thrilled to see books recommended by someone who also loved it! I catch a lot of the facts from that book in your videos. Thank you so much for this!!

Horrible Histories : The Wives of Henry VIII - "Divorced, Beheaded, and Died / Divorced, Beheaded, Survived"

I would also recommend ‘the Five’ by Hallie Rubenold. It tells the stories of the women killed by Jack the Ripper, finally giving them their names and identities back

Kate Adie is the coolest person I have ever been lucky enough to meet.
A twenty four carat, brass bound, no mucking about badass.

You should read “How the Girl Guides won the war” it’s absolutely fascinating!

What a great topic for a video -- I am confident that anything that changed the way that YOU think about "history" will be worth reading. And it's way cool stylistically: quite a departure from your established/default presentation--of which I am a fan-- enjoyably so. 👍👍

Charles Spencer's recent(ish) work, The White Ship, was absolutely fascinating, showing just how tenuous was the continuation of the Norman line from William the Conqueror, and why monarchs such as Henry VIII were so desperate to avoid a repeat of the period known as The Anarchy, when the crown was torn between Mathilda and Stephen. It thus also puts the eventual reign of Elizabeth I into perspective. [Prospective readers should be warned that there are more Mathildas to keep track of than you would believe possible (Mathildas of Flanders and Anjou as Queens Consort, and the Empress Mathilda as (would-be) Queen Regnant)]

"Divorced, Beheaded, Survived" - for a brief moment, I thought that was referring to just one person!

I’d be fascinated to know what fictional books have changed the way you think, if any! War & Peace definitely changed my view of life

Ooh, LOVE this...would absolutely dig this in a long-form video as there is seemingly an endless supply of source material from which to choose! (hint hint)😏

So excited to see Mayhew's (vol 1 at least) is available via Project Gutenberg (aka free)... Thanks for a great reading list!

yay! Henry Mayhew. The Studs Turkel of the Victorian era. I actually portrayed him at the Dickens Fair in San Francisco

All of Ian Mortimer's time Travelers guide books are excellent. 👍

I have the first and last, and I think it was you who recommended the latter to me in the first place. Started it, but then my mum pinched it, so gotta wait to get it back. Still need to read the first, though. I've studied Mayhew a bit in various history subjects, but I really should read it all.
Thanks for the other suggestions. They've just been added to my list.

omg i'm currently reading that very first one. it's super fun and interesting - it walks you through what YOU would see if you showed up there right now.
