UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has won Fight of the Night in the last three fights he has finished, and the only reason it's not four in a row is that two illegal knees by Eddie Alvarez ended their bout in the second round and resulted in it being a no contest.

Poirier and Alvarez will meet on July 30 in Calgary with a potential lightweight title shot against Khabib Nurmagomedov at stake. Nurmagomedov has said if he doesn't fight either Conor McGregor or Georges St-Pierre next, he wants the Alvarez-Poirier winner as his first defense.

Poirier is 23-5 overall and 15-4 with that one no-contest in the UFC. He's also got a win over the highly regarded featherweight champion, Max Holloway, though it came before Holloway won the title.

Poirier is not only a great fighter, but he is involved in dozens of charities and gives his time freely to help others. He discusses his efforts toward the end of our interview.

I really like this mans fighting style, the strange thing is that the big UFC masses are somewhat only in it for the big names and sleeping on a lot of good fighters...like this man..
