Sometimes I feel like I just wanna quit on life. I can barely make it to the end of the month, I will never buy a house, I see no future. And I’m 33, our generation feels hopeless, I get her a lot, I’m the first in line to work hard, but it’s so demotivating when you cannot even imagine saving money for something even small.

She, at least, does not come across as entitled --I'm a boomer and I can't imagine how hard it must be to pay rent, much less buy a home now When I was a young married, the rule of thumb was that rent shouldn't be more that a week's paycheck Is that even possible now for the average worker?

Here in the UK there is no motivation to work. You could work a 40 hour week, get paid £1.3k after tax, whilst someone perfectly capable yet unwilling to work can collect nearly the same amount in benefits. Nevermind those that squeeze out kids. Depressing is one hell of an understatement.

as a millennial join the club, we've all felt this way for years.

I think she made some good points that are not just a GenZ problem. And I agree that people are Perhaps not fully understanding what the reason is for these issues. It is nice to see GenZ people be thoughtful and not so entitled as we see often. But I also think a lot of people that go on TikTok and rant about issues that they have can be very entitled and often the ones who are thoughtful in the way this girl was aren’t wasting their time on TikTok. I actually wish more of them would

I absolutely agree with this girl. I recently had to move back in with my parents because I can no longer afford to live, and dropping out of school is not an option for me. I hate my current job, but at least it barely pays my bills and takes care of gas for my car.

Who would have thought that government running huge deficits and keeping interest rates at 0% would create inflation and inflate assets. Shocked, shocked! 😅

I agree with her, and we need to be aware how this affects other generations, too. My parents are approaching retirement age and have been screwed over by the companies they worked for for decades, so now my husband and I have to consider how we'll support ourselves AND our parents as we get older. They've worked hard their whole lives, made smart financial decisions, and are still fighting to keep their heads above water. Not to mention how scared we are about our grandparents' finances, given that they're on a fixed income and need more care every year. We have GOT to resolve this mess we're in!

My parents kept trying to give me financial advice all through college. Work hard, save money, etc...Last year, when I finally sat down and ran them through my budget and expenses, they finally realized just how bad Millennials (like me) and Gen Z (like my brother and my cousin) have it in this economy. My parents are Gen X. They may also be struggling in this economy, but they have a nice retirement fund, emergency, and a house. My brother, cousin, and I are going to be lucky if we have any kind of retirement fund. The economy when they were in their teens and twenties is very different. The things that worked then don't really work now

I had a severe burnout from overworking and underlying trauma that was never processed. I wasn't able to work for almost a decade, despite trying.. I wanted to work, because the lack of productivity made me want to self-delete. I'm happy I have a job now, and even though I'm poor, atleast I don't want to off myself

Millianals are the first generation that will make less than their parents. We work and work and work, with very little to show for it. Wages since have barely kept up with inflation since the 70s.

This video is so important. I empathize with the Gen Z'er. Her position thoroughly reflects my own & I'm a millenial. So many of my friends are in the same boat. We need to emphasize & confront the impact of being sold the lie that college was the gateway to lucrative careers & stability. We were bamboozled.
It isn't as if I do not want to pay my student loans; I just want to find work that will allow me to actually do that, while being able to survive, at the bare minimum. Not much of a life though, is it? We're all living to work rather than working to live.

Everyone should watch this just for you explaining in a simple way how economics works.!

But I feel for this girl. Lots of kids don't want to do what they need to but even when you do, you're fighting an uphill battle. We're in our 30s with three kids and we can't get out of the rent cycle either. My husband works a good job and I stay home with our kids cause childcare is too costly. He is a veteran who collects disability from his medical discharge, and without it we'd be drowning, but even with it we can't save enough to buy cause all our money goes to groceries and gas and bills. Uphill battle with no end in sight.

I agree with her. I want to work too, but I've been working my little tushy off for the past decade and a half, and yet I'm still barely making ends meet. It becomes exhausting having to constantly work 40-50 plus hours a week, and have nothing to show for it.

I feel sorry for kids today. This is so true. My youngest works full-time in the Trades (not University), but he can't afford to buy a house. He can barely afford rent. It is not right. I bought a house and a car when I was in my 20's on my own income. It can't be done today.

This is why you have so many of the younger generation still living at home with their parents....rental prices have gotten so high they can't afford to move out.

If you look at the numbers this trend didn't start in the nineties, it actually started diverging at the end of the sixties/beginning of the seventies. Back when a single wage earner could support a family and afford all those things.

She shouldn't get "dunked on" at all. I'm 50 years old, my daughters are working and working hard (and making good $), and nothing is affordable. I love that they are still at home but I don't think they do as much. I don't blame the next generation at all though....we have failed them.

Brad it’s called greedflation. The companies all raised their prices for “inflation” when many didn’t even need to since their costs didn’t go up. Also we are building the most apartments EVER right now yet rent is still expensive. They’re all vacant and they’re all 2000$ a month for a studio. This isn’t supply and demand. We have low demand due to high prices. We have high supply due to overly high prices. These corporations just won’t lower their rents to put people in these apartments they’ve all built 😒. These hedge funds all are setting the market price and have billions backing them so they can afford to have empty apartments sitting for YEARS

I feel incredibly lucky that my husband and I were just able to move into a very nice apartment for $560/mo in NY. He is the maintenance guy for the complex so he was able to sign our lease for over half off the original rental cost.
