Boba Milk Tea at Jack in the Box?!

Boba Milk Tea is now being served at select Jack in the Box locations!

Is it a sign of cultural acceptance and integration? Or does it concern you that as traditional dishes become more widely available via fast food chains, the uniqueness and authenticity will get a little lost?

I’m curious if we can have a civil discussion about this because I’d love to hear your thoughts and feelings! Would it be better if they called it Taiwanese Milk Tea like how we call Thai Tea, Thai Tea? Or does everyone already know the origin of boba, therefore deeming it redundant. 🤔

As far as the taste, I give it a 7/10! The flavor of the milk tea was not bad at all, and surprisingly the texture of the boba was nice and chewy, contrary to what I’ve heard! Some pearls were really sweet while others weren’t, so there was a lack of consistency there. This is probably very similar to the microwaveable packets you can get from the store.

They’re definitely trying to get their piece of the pie w/the boba craze especially in areas that they’re popular in…like in Cali! That’s how rich corporations stay rich…just like McDonald’s ice coffees that are popular cos of Starbucks!🤙🏾

I just had it, it was ok but the boba tasted interesting. I’m just glad I can get it there now.

Jack in the Box started in San Diego and are still headquartered there.
I love their funky tacos I miss their egg roles and have had a bunch of their Teriyaki bowls when I didn't want another burger.
Stoked they now have Boba.
The best part of Southern California is all the different cultures we have here🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

This is what "culture" ALWAYS DOES. It's the exact same thing as Texas + Mexico blending we have Tex-Mex.
It's nothing to be ashamed of or proud simply what society does. People keep the most popular things and the less popular things fade away.

I think they are just capitalizing on what’s popular while not actually supporting the Asian community

Mmmm, I’m not a fan? It’s the appreciation vs appropriation thing. Not really showing any appreciation to the culture, just using the drink to make money. Also it was really just eh to me? Waaaay better options out there imo

I treat it like people who aren’t Buddhist wearing Buddha chains.
