When these guys picked musk to debunk they could of never imagined just how important it would be to debunk him.

Insane how refreshing it is to listen to sane, professional, qualified people talk about spaceflight.

As opposed to Musk's “Orders of magnitude, exponential, uhmm uh umm it is truly profound, massive scale, manufacturing, rapid reuse, 20 minutes turn over, 1000 tons to orbit with 500 raptor mk.69 engines.” word salad.

SLS failure rate: 0%
Starship failure rate: 100%

Starship is untenable. The idea that you have to launch 20 of them to fuel 1 for translunar is ludicrous, given the inept and unproven design. Musk wasted 4 years and 3 billion trying to prove he was right when he insisted on building a launch pad without blast diversion or water deluge. Something that had been figured out 60 years ago. His idea of a massive vertical lander is unstable at best and does not even reflect design for purpose.
And the fact that the boards of Tesla and SpaceX have not fired him for incompetence and brand damage is proof they are hand picked puppets and NOT acting in the interests of shareholders. This make SpaceX unreliable when they can not make decisions that go against a CEO who has proven incompetent and unscrupulous.

SLS, whatever else you want to say about it, has sent a spacecraft to the Moon. "Starship" hasn't even achieved orbit.

I don't have spare time to ingest everything involved. Your videos really help me cut through the crap. Thank you.

Given that the new head of NASA will be Jared Isaacman, a close associate of Elon Musk, all their concerns about Starship will be ignored.

I think smarter everyday youtuber pretty much covered the reason SLS needs to continue

Your videos are fantastic. Your intro music is ever better. I start humming it whenever I'm about to click on one of your videos. Keep up the good work :)

10:10 SLS as a "fallback" is nuts. Starship is not likely to ever be operational.

11:00 Colonizing the Moon is nuts. A temporary site for maintenance is one thing, but a permanently occupied facility makes very little sense.
25:00 SLS is underfunded. Thinking that Starship is a cost-saving bargain is wishful thinking.
43:00 No, the Starship design is not viable. It can't be fixed with time and money.

Orion and SLS are tested. Starship is still a joke.

Just a reminder that the 8th flight of the Saturn V was the now famous Apollo 13, where an explosion in a LOX cylinder in the command module scrubbed the lunar landing, and the crew were saved by the most amazing team effort the world has ever seen.
The first 7 flights of Starship and Heavy Booster have been abject and demonstrable failures.
Also, Musk has now received 3.8 billion dollars to supply a lunar landing craft, and has not made or tested a single piece of hardware.

Every time I see these SpaceX lander "designs" I am amazed that anyone takes them seriously. You don't even need to be an engineer, just play Kerbal Space Program and you know how ridiculous they are. Also: a complicated elevator as the only way back up such a tall, multi-story structure on a freaking Moon? Complete madness.

There is no away that starship monstrosity will ever land on the moon successfully.

I do wonder - to address a concern that Thunderf00t expressed about manned spaceflight - what is the science (or some other benefit) that requires a human presence on Moon or Mars?

I guess i will unpack my Mars luggage .

Was Destin also invited? SmarterEveryday? He had a really meaningful take on this subject a year ago. Just asking.

Musk knows starship is a dead end. That's why he invested on Trump's campaign. He will receive the cancellation of Artemis as payment.

You have to admire the professionalism of this panel, calmly discussing concerns about decisions by lawmakers in Washington, and how it might effect funding for the return to the Moon in 2030. I'd never be able to stay this cool, because given the current political climate, I have grave concerns there will even be an America, let alone a space administration or a Moon mission by then.
