Super creative ideas. I have several mowers, riders and other small engines. You made many great points . Too many whistles and bells cause more problems unless you’re wealthy .

Thanks for this video, I have an old Jonsered riding mower from 1993 in the garage atm. And it suddenly stopped working, the seat safety has already been replaced multiple times, so this will really come in handy when rewiring it for simplicity's sake.

A year and a half ago my ride on stopped turning on. I only just got around to looking at it (because I was restoring a car). Replacing the spark plug didn't work, then I thought of buying a new magnito. New ones were like $80, so I ended up just sanding the ever loving crap out of the old one. Put it back on dodgily and still no spark. Readjusted the position of the magneto so it was only a Mil or so from touching, then I got spark. Then just sprayed some brake cleaner in the intake, turned the key and it started right up.

Anyway, moral of the story- I now want to rewire the entire thing just for fun.

very good video, easy to follow etc.I wish I could make these. I would change one thing though, right now your alternator is live 24/7. I run the alternator wire to the key switch on the accessory terminal. then all that alternator stuff is dead when the key is off.

You cut off or disconnect the wires running too your fuel solenoid, or anti
backfire switch on the bottom of your carb you may run the risk of hydro lock. Install a fuel cut off switch on your fuel hose too avoid this. Turn on switch, start mower, cut off switch first before shutting off mower, let mower run out of gas, then cut off key switch.

If my john deer ride on mowr had the second wire cut from the fuse part on the battery every time i press that wire on the battery it begins to start the mower how can i connect thst wire witout starting the mower do i need to add a fuse to it to

Interesting video, question i have im trying to figure out where the two wires coming down from the alternator that is a connector im trying to figure out where does the other wire go from there, one you mentioned ties into the lights but where foes the other go to? This is where im trying to figure out, mice chewed on the other connector side cant find it but dont know where the big wire goes?

*THIS IS INCORRECT* The lawnmower will not flood ifyou cut the fuel shut off off. It will only flood if the needle or seat in the carburetor is damagedDont cut the tip of the fuel shutoff solenoid off. Your lawnmower will flood and you'll have to take the sparkplug out and spin the engine over to get the gas out of the cylinder. If you want to wire it simply. Ground one side of the fuel solenoid and run the hot wire to one side of a toggle switch, from the other side of the toggle switch run it to the positive side of the battery. If you dont want a toggle switch, then you can hook the positive of the fuel shutoff solenoid to the L on the key switch. That way it has switched power. When the key is on the solenoid is open and it will run. When the switch is off it will close that way you cant forget to turn it off just like you said.

There is no alternator on the motor. It has a magneto. Also, it does not produce A/C power for headlamps. The bulbs run on 12-volt DC.

I love your video but when you point we don’t really know what you are pointing to. It would help immensely if you add a hand made diagram on a piece of paper after pointing. This would clarify exactly what you are pointing to. I have taken an old mower and used it as s tractor to pull a small trailer for hauling debris, dirt etc. Removed the deck and safety features. All I need is for it to start and shutoff.
