I thought up a design like this and used an online program to properly gear the outer wheels. My design would use one black spoke that would be included on the outer ends of one gear. As that gear travels around a front plate and back plate would have a light color with number holes cut out. The black dot would then reveal each hour as it passes between the faces! I'm coming up with a novel approach to minutes as well. I'm probably biting off more than I can chew however lol
