useLayoutEffect vs useEffect hook in reactjs

I've personally used useLayoutEffect in production code. The use case was to enable full screen on browsers. If the user is not in full screen then they won't be able to give the test.

It seems to me the best time to use useLayoutEffect is when you need to update the DOM immediately as useEffect is asynchronous.
